I've had mine about 6 months...Depends on the make, Thompsons can pack up anywhere from a week to a year due to cheap capacitors they used in the PSU, which you can send away to be upgraded for about £25+. Is just an open the box replace the hard drive and then the sky box formats the drive ready to start recording again. Been thinking of putting a bigger drive in.
