Heavy Rain

Scoring rather highly over at Metacritic; 89 so far. Is this a revolutionary game in terms of storytelling and gameplay or 'essentially a nine-hour film that you nudge along by following on-screen button prompts'?

The demo is now out on PSN so will report back later. I really want to like this but I'm not so sure.

Basically Fahrenheit but much better isn't it? I'll be buying it, looks very good tbh.

EDIT: I never even consider demos. Will get downloading right away so it's ready when I get back from town.

Finished the demo, will probably buy it based on that.

Well I loved Fahrenheit and it just completely reminded me of it. At £40 may be a bit steep so might wait a while, but definitely getting it.

Doesn't surprise me. A few things are a bit dodgy - like the use of sixaxis, it doesn't always register properly - but it's still very good.

I never thought I'd see the day where I have to shake a sixaxis controller to use a virtual asthma inhaler!

My copy has landed but I am the proud recipient of the YLOD!!! I took my machine apart; then put it back together again and had 3 screws left over lol. Will hand my mess of a console over to the professionals tomorrow.

Utterly griping game!

I think the moment with the burglars in the womans apartment early on in the game was one of the most pulse-pounding moments in gaming I've ever had. I needed a break after it, even though I wanted to keep playing!

I been trying to play it today but have the error 8001050F which is ****ing me off as says i need an update to play. Won't login to PSN at all. Thankfully seems im not alone in it though.

Apparently it's affecting offline games as well. I'm at work at the moment and haven't been on my PS3 in a while, so don't know if mine has been affected yet.

It's a serious problem by the look of it.

I'll probably buy this game when it goes down in price a bit. Or pick it up second hand. All of my attention is focused on April 30th - Red Dead Redemption.

Back to Heavy Rain though; it does look very very good.

Completed it today, amazing game. Going to go for some different endings straight away.

Really short when you get into it, completed it in about 5 and a half hours.

However, seeing as the killer (and therefore the motives) and change, i'll definitely be playing through again.

Grrr I lost a finger, my son and a tasty sequence of polygons.

The only shame for me is that there is no "perfect" ending, where the four main characters all turn out to be on the right side.

Also, there are certain events which I think happen on every play through no matter what - Ethan blacking out, having the origami figures in his hand, and his shrink finding one in his office - which are completely unexplained and make no sense whatsoever when someone else is revealed as the killer.

Nevermind, it's a fantastic game nonetheless.
