I was engaged a few years ago and have the engagement ring sitting in a drawer somewhere, I was only offered about a tenth of what I had paid for it. My daughter was offered about £70 for a white gold engagement ring with a half-carat and two quarter-carat diamonds. And that was from someone I considered a friend! Of course, if he fails to complete the deal, then that is a breach of contract and he can be sued.
