Vundo...popups and other random stuff

This laptop has become infected with the Vundo trojan. Basically it has popups on Firefox and IE, occasional explorer.exe crashes and generally runs a lot slower than before it was infected the other day. A system restore didn't help, so after a little digging on Google, I found this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vundo

I downloaded MalwareByte's Anti-Malware as advised to others, and the initial scan found a lot of the Vundo trojan files, but left behind a couple of run32.dll files that still causes the popups. I thought it'd be best to ask for advice now before I try and frag them. :D

Here's my current HJT log:

It usually finds 2 infected files, this time it was more (after a reboot), so I guess the main cause is still hidden somewhere.

Tried SuperAntSpyware, AVG 8.0, Norton, none found any problems (even after updating the databases), closest was AVG picking up some tracking cookies, which wasn't the problem.

Left it last night, did a full Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware scan (took 4 hours!), and found 14 infected files.

Fingers crossed, its OK now. No popups yet.

Thats the thing - there's so many programs offering to solve everything under the sun, its very easy to get confused by what works and what doesn't.

I'm not 100% sure if it was MBAM or me disabliling the offending .dll files in Windows Defender (unlikely, I know), but it looks like I've got rid of the Vundo trojan.

Im guessing you did not run it in safe mode then?

To be honest, I don't remember but I think I followed the instructions. It took several hours to clear up though, luckily System Restore came through better than it normally does.
