Advertising/Marketing/PR agencies

Bit of a cheeky one (and sorry if you're not supposed to do this)

I'm a third year student (don't start...) at Bristol Uni and am looking to go into the Ad/Marketing/PR industry. I have kept April free in the hope of finding some work experience in an agency large or small so thought I'd ask you lot in here if any of you have any connections or advice on how to go about this.

In the bigger picture I'm obviously looking for a full time role in this industry from June onwards but even just a weeks work experience goes a long way.

I have a decent CV with agency work experience in Hong Kong that I can send to anyone who might be able to help.

I suppose a suit. As in Account handling or planning and not design or creative

Just so you know we get about 50 letters a year asking for exactly the same thing, but despite you and your like offering free labour it actually can be very difficult to find work within the agency that you are capable of doing without someone pretty much holding your hand the whole time - so it simply is not worth while. I say this simply to explain why you may find it tough to find a company willing to offer you work experience. Keep your chin up, and keep trying. One thing thoughm If you do get work you may find that it is rudimentary admin. Again take it on the chin as we all start down the bottom. PR is very much about experience, you simly have to out the time in. Best of luck though.

Similar background to me by the sounds of it (I studied in Hong Kong & Bristol), but I work in the creative side. I graduated a couple of years ago but I'm now quite happily employed in an small agency specialising in design & marketing for football clubs.

Two of the best sites are probably creativepool and design week.

But generally most of the agencies are quite small and the better ones probably won't advertise so I always note down any agencies I see that I'd like to work for and then check their sites for any openings or just make speculative applications for placements / junior positions - which is how I got my job, just happened to make an enquiry to the right person at the right time.

The downside is that most nice looking agencies are in london, so it can be difficult to manage to do placements there for free.
