is it me or is the mini sausage getting, well, more "mini"?

Ive noticed a lot of foodstuffs getting smaller over the years as well.

Wagon wheels,

Those pink shrimp thingys,

Pork scratchings,

And chocolate biscuits.

It just means i have to eat twice as much.

Bottles of beer! They've gone from 330ml to 284ml (1/2 pint). Also from 24/20 to 15 in a crate.

I hate how the big Mars and Snickers have been replaced by 'duos'. If I wanted two I'd have bought two.

No, they are the same size as they have always been. It's probably that your anus and colon have expanded through sausage abuse.

Why not step up to good old 'black pudding'?

people dont want to pay increased prices for the same product, which is often what needs to happen, due to rising costs of resources and materials as part of inflation.

people also dont want to see smaller packets, it changes their percerption of the product.

so, as a result = smaller portions in bigger packaging. Pringles for example, just knock 5 crisps off the top of the pile!
