Boiler problem

Hi guys, not the best time to loss heating in the house but my boiler has given up. I've followed the instructions to turn it on but the pilot light will not start. It's an automatic boiler so it's a simple turn on, turn the thermostat between min and max and the fan starts (which it does) followed by an ignition spark (which doesn't).

The house thermostat is on 20 and heating set to on. No pressure gauge is visible. It's not a condenser boiler so no outside pipe frozen. Am I missing something or is there anything I could try before calling an emergency plumber?

British Gas can not come out until the 6th January!

Have you tried Junction 9? He is usually pretty good with this sort of thing and always willing to help out a fellow Saints fan in their hour of need. PM him.

You could tell British gas a little white lie and say you have an elderly relative living with you. They must have a system that prioritises help for the vulnerable.

If it's an old conventional boiler if you open up the front there will be a grey button with a clockwise arrow. It turns about a quarter turn then press it in. Repeat until you see the pilot light ignite.

Can't be any more help without knowing what type of boiler you got mate...

The cable that gives off the spark broke on mine a while ago. Just needed to reinsert the cable in the igniter and it lit. Are you getting any spark when you try to light it?

I've got a glowworm ultimate 80ff. The trouble with this is that there are only two things to do - the on/off switch and the thermostat dial.

I've called every engineer in cambridge yesterday and this morning and managed to get one for this afternoon.
