Rumour though obviously. That combined with the rumour of a big bust up whilst at dinner with Shearer and his wife... So Gary finds that out as a result of said bust up? Could be enough to push Gary over the edge, robbed of everything close to him, going on under his nose all these years etc... Really Tragic. With a dash of Fonte's missus/Pardew? When something happens that people can't understand and very few people know the real truth, these sort of rumours always surface. I seem to remember Shearer quoted saying something along the lines of, after leaving the studio and arranging something for the following week they went their own ways.
