Family History / 1901 census etc

Am looking at a number of sites for this. There seem to be a few available so wondered if anyone on here done this, and any recommendations of which site to go for ?

My brother uses Ancestry.com. He's got back to the 1600s for one side of the family. He says it's made easier because there's a facility to post enquiries and he's got in touch with quite a few (very distant) family members who've done a lot more work than him.

My ancestral home is now county council offices.

I've used ancestory.com and old fashioned legwork. Got one branch back to the early 1600s.

It also answered an awful lot of questions and squared off some myths.

I really enjoyed doing it.

Ancestry here too, although occasionally used other sites on a pay-as-you-go basis for collections that Ancestry don't have. Been doing it for years so if you need any help, I might be able to assist.

If you have local roots, the Library at the Civic or the Hants County Records Office in Winchester are very useful and the staff are always happy to help.
