St Chalet Posted 29 December, 2011 Share Posted 29 December, 2011 I am no expert but the wireless thermostat is usually a paired unit. You have a sender unit that's signal is received by a base unit. When the temperature in the room where the sender unit is below the level you have set the sender notifies base unit. This base unit produces the 'call for heat', effectively switiching the boiler on (assuming the boiler is on constant or in a required time period). We have a boiler maybe 2 years old, and only have on/off/timer and not a temp control on/off and want to see if this can be added to our boiler. Looks like it may be able to be added. There will certainly be a connection for a room stat, which is bridged in case you dont want to use it. The stat wires into those two connectors. A wireless one is the easiest way of fitting it as there is almost no wiring to do, you just remove the bridge and connect the wireless sender then put the control unit wherever you like. They are quite a lot dearer than a simple wired stat but you'll probably save more on wiring than you spend on parts. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
