Swedish season - 5 games to go.....

Recommended Posts

....and it's wide open in the race as we go into the last month of the season, and any one of four sides could still take the title. It's not been so wide open for several years..

Anders Svensson's Elfsborg are clinging to the top spot, only one goal ahead of Malmö ..and both Häcken and Stockholm side AIK are only two points behind them.

- it looks like a really tight finish which will certainly go up until the last day.

The winners of the Superettan title (Championship) title will most certainly be (Gothenburg side) Öster, who were (unluckily) relegated last year but have taken this league by storm losing only 2 games and are already 10 points clear of (Michael Svenssons old side) Halmstad ...and (the Stockholm-based nursery side) Brommapojkarna who are presently only separated by GD.

It's a tough time for one of them, as only the top two are guaranteed promotion ..whilst the third-placed side will have play-off games against whoever finishes third from bottom in Allsvenskan (Prem.)

I think David might be mixing up Östers IF and Örgryte (relegated two seasons ago). Östers haven't been in the Allsvenskan since 2006 (they were in the 3rd tier two seasons ago). Historically they're a "big club" having won 4 league titles.

I just hope Häcken win this year because they are one of the few teams playing entertaining football. For other reasons (proximity) I'm glad to see Gefle IF once again beat the odds and in all likelyhood will avoid relegation.

I was at the IFK - AIK game yesterday. What an auful pile of ****e.

Loads of handbags all around town and the stadium. The Old Bill really have not got a clue how to sort it out over here.

They stop the rucking but just send them all on their way....to go and cause more trouble. They can do what they please with very little risk of getting locked up.

Get the dogs on them and throw them in the back of the van, all nicely mixed up with one another.

Too much peoples rights and not enough truncheons!

...couldn't help thinking the Halmstad game yesterday was a bit like Sweden's fight back in the Germany game - but without the same result.

Michael Svensson's last club (third placed) Halmstad were leading 2-0 in the 87th minute against bottom club Värnamo.....(Michael Svensson's first club).... then;

they conceded a penalty,(2-1) ... a Halmstad player put through his own goal 2-2 ..and then Värnamo scored a winner in added time ....result 2-3. What a finish!

It has probably put paid to Halmstad's chances of automatic promotion and they may have to content themselves with a play-off game........
