Good Use of My Taxes?

Heres where I live up to my username!! Just before 1.00pm on Saturday I went to my local Post Office. As I arrived a taxi pulled up outside and a young woman leapt out and rushed into the P.O. whilst the taxi waited outside. She said that she had come for her Gyro money, but she had just got up and had to rush before the P.O. closed. The guy gave her her £175 and said "Have a nice week-end" but she said that she was going back to bed, got back in the taxi, which was still waiting and shot off.

I know it was Saturday but I can`t imagine that she spent much time looking for work and my taxes are paying for that taxi!

Is it me??? Probably! Rant Over.:)

If that's how she chooses to waste her benefits, then what's the big deal? Personally, she should probably be spending it on food and drink and rent etc, but if she wants to spend what little she gets on pointless taxi trips then more fool her.

p.s. When I was on the dole, I used my £45 a week to go to the speedway.

I think that 95% of that story is made up ********, next you'll be telling the one about a Muslim lady who was being rude in a queue only for some halfwit to chirp up, racially stereotype her and offer to drive her to the airport.

A load of ****ty ********.

You are quite right. I made it all up. Does that make you feel better? Oh, I also forgot to make up the bit where she was talking about her kids. I don`t obviously know where they were whilst she was in bed all day, but as I am making it up it doesn`t really matter does it?

I am not an OAP just yet! I am still paying my taxes (God, how I am paying!) It`s just that I have worked hard all my life and find it annoying someone being supported by the State (and by definition - my taxes) can feel the need/afford to get a taxi to the PO and get it to wait to take her back to her pit.

I am not actually miserable although my wife thinks I am!:)

Shall we start a new forum for old gits to moan on? We could call it c_urmudgeon.

Then again it would be easier to go on b_anter?

I'm now just that tiny bit more glad I got all the tax I had paid back this morning! I think I would rather not be student and therefore have the time to earn enough to pay tax though. Still, for now I shall continue to live in the tax haven that is studentland. Maybe miserableoldgit, the way to look at it is that you are very fortunate to be in a position to pay taxes rather than being in the unfortunate position of having to claim benefits - not many like having to do so.

For many many people claiming benefits is a career, and they really don't consider themselves unfortunate to be able to be in that position....

In which case I consider myself lucky to not be such a total c**t! Although it's horrible I would still rather be a tax payer (although I realise i'm still claiming most of it back atm), knowing that I am supporting both good and bad causes, than such a horrible person like you describe. I couldn't live like that as i have a conscience :)

100% behind you on this one. I frucking hate people who 'have another sprog to add to their benefits and get a bigger council house'. They see it as a pay rise, not that they are bringing yet another child into a world of underprivilidged upbringing, thus resulting in the spawn that is 'benefit leeches' increasing in population.

Call my views wrong, but I think you should have to have a licence to breed. A licence would only be permitted if you could prove you had the financial and social wellbeing to bring a child into the world. This would rid a hell of a lot of problems from our country. This way, 'Vicky Pollard' type benefit leeches would not be able to carry on wasting hard working tax payers money.

They should also put a limit on job seekers of 1 year. Provide them with the benefit along with training in courses left right and centre to give them the chances they need and if they havent found a job within the year, tough. You were obviously not trying hard enough. They will have to get a job at Maccy D's or Tesco's stacking shelves.

No job would ever be below me if I lost my current job. I would take whatever I could get to pay the bills and get by. A lot of the scroungers on job seekers want a £40k a year job and but have not even got the attitutude for a voluntary position! A fine example being the turds who moan about the polish getting all the jobs while claiming for their job seekers yet think working picking fruit and veg is below them!

These days, it's probably cheaper to take a taxi than to buy a car, insure it, tax it and put petrol in it, so in hindsight, she was probably doing the sensible thing. I dread to think what the reaction would have been if she rolled up in a 4x4.

Bloody scroungers. If it isn't them, it's the gay muslim paedos or the speed camera global warming hoodies. No wonder knife crime is up. The other day I saw a single mum benefits scrounger turn up to collect her giro with a police escort. The post office not only gave her the giro, she got £75,000 cash bonus, a fancy new pair of shoes, a book token, a family size bucket of KFC AND she got to wear the policeman's hat.

Poor people getting benefit is not where the money is being drained. That counts for millions.

Wealthy people who have accountants and are able to officially have no income are costing billions. Benefit claimers barely scratch the surface.

This thread is all a bit Daily Mail for me.

I disgree, I would say there are a hell of a lot more 'poor' people claiming benefits than wealthy people cheating the system.

Dont get me wrong, there are people who do it and these people are scum too, but there are a hell of a lot of 'can't be arsed to get a job' people who claim benefits and see it as their wage!

You are wrong.

Tax cheats are far more common than you'd imagine. Each of them is able to avoid paying far more in tax than can be claimed in benefits. Seriously, we are talking millions versus billions.

I have neighbours who have several businesses, an enormous house a well a a holiday home and fabulous cars, yet if you check their tax details (I am that nosy) they have zero income and no personal wealth. This is so easily done that it i almost the norm for people who can afford an accountant. If you had any idea what tax bracket these people would be in, you'd understand that people claiming a few hundred quid don't even scratch the surface.

Exactly. I remember a report which said that Rupert Murdoch paid less than £100 a year in tax.

And what about the rest of the 'Black Economy'? Cash in hand and no questions asked second and third jobs. But do these people get lambasted, no "'cos they're working hard, innit". They are defrauding the country as much as and maybe more so, than benefit cheats.

I have no problem at all with the State (and our taxes) supporting people who genuinely need it, for whatever reason, and are suffering hardship. My original point was how much hardship is this young woman suffering if she can afford to take a taxi to get her gyro money, make it wait and then go back home in it. I was not the only person in the P.O. to comment on this.

Sorry I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you meant there were more people claiming benefits like job seekers and DLA who were wealthy than people claiming who were poor.

You meant weathly people getting accountants to write off income left right and centre to stave off having to pay taxes.

While I do not agree with this wholey, I think this could be viewed as a benefit of being self employed and taking that risk. Its the accountants who are bending the laws enabling this.

Don't get me on the subject of the benefits system in this country. It is completely wrong.

Proof of this are my skanky ****ing cousins. The girl got sacked from Asda for stealing but now works at a Pub as an assistant manageress (so much for getting references for people), the mother doesn't work as she's agoraphobic and the ****** of an eldest son doesn't work either. The maximum he lasts at a job is 2 weeks and then it aggravates his bad back so he goes back on the sick for months at a time. Its funny that the bad back doesn't stop him ****ging whichever thick bint he's seeing at the time. He's got 4 kids with 3 different women and doesn't see any of them.

This is why there should be a gun invented called the 'skankonisor'. I was thinking of takng my idea to Dragons Den. £1,000,000 or 5% of the business. The gun simply fires and eliminates skanks, chavs et al. It would fire a blank if aimed at a non-skank.

I would gladly be the person going around shooting the turds of soceity.

Just to highlight how silly our benefits system is:

Last summer I had a girl who worked for me, she only did 16 hours a week - something to do with the benefits...

She earnt about £90 per week from her work - fair play for getting off her arse and doing something...

She probably spent about £150 in the pub - great for my profits!!!

She was a single mum with a 3 year old daughter - who might as well have lived with her grandma for all the time she spent with her.....

She had a two bedroom house paid for by the council.

She had all her bills paid for by the council.

She even claimed child care benefits from the council - despite her mother looking after her daughter ;)

We got her to write down one day all of the benefits she recieved - how much each was worth etc - and in order for someone to work [and have tax deductions etc], they would need a job paying around £31k per annum just to have the same level of 'income' as this 21 year old girl!!

Do I think that's fair, do I f*ck!!!

To add to this: I've taken many off this sort to Post Offices and Cheque Cashing places in my taxi. The most retarded one was to take a big fat smelly beast of a woman from one of the Weston tower blocks over to Shirley to use a cheque cashing place, wait for her, then take her back home (via a stop for fags and some cakes!!) It was a Saturday and she said she meant to do it the previous day at the local post office but 'ran out of time' (watching Jeremy Kyle probably). So because she was so disorganized and/or lazy, she paid the cheque cashing place their fee PLUS a £25 taxi fare out of the £60-odd cheque. It's difficult to work out if these people are more lazy than stupid or more stupid than lazy.

Just to let you all know that I am making my last post early today, as I really need a poo. I could well be gone for about 8 minutes, as it's going to be a lot of prep work before the main event comes along.

I would thoroughly not recommend being a postman. Unless you want to be bullied into working for free. Doesnt work for me but thats why they are trying to take me down the disciplinary route. They have introduced this revision across the country where you are supposed to have a five foot stride and run like a marathon runner if their chosen walking speed is used for route planning. They also have no interest in the security of the post expecting you to dump bags in shops, door ways etc totally uninsured and exposed to theivery because managers are too lazy to arrange official drop off points, approach premises etc. You'll be glued to a frame sorting for hour after hour. It was a good job once provising a public service, now all we here from management is 'business business business, most of them have no concept of business having worked there most of their lives as they cant get a job anywhere else. They have just scrapped phase three of their modernisation plan requiring us to clock in and out as it would provide transparent evidence of the real hours we work rather than the lie that we all eff off early. Those that did often would come in and work 2 hours unpaid to get out on time from 3 am in the morning. These mugs make it hard for people who turn up and do the job properly as managers will say, 'look they can do it, turning a blind eye to the scabs. Sorry for the rant but we've already had one bloke die of a heart attack on his walk this year so now you know why tensions are often so frayed in the service. Ive never been in an organisation private or public with such palpable kafkaesque evil going on. Needless to say Im trying to find the time to sort out a decent cv.
