probably not but the recent protests about 'british jobs for british people' have struck a chord...and will no doubt follow suit in similar circumstances across the EU..

add that to Ireland contemplating withdrawing from the Euro altogther..

with these things, it only takes one to jump before a couple of others follow..

They'd have to ratify the Lisbon treaty first. At the moment there is no possibility of leaving the EU.

If the UK want to withdraw good luck to them, in the end that will mean less employment overal. Its cheap rethoric that does strike a cord with people that don't fully know how the EU impactst their daily life.

if a nation wanted to leave the EU...there is not a great deal that can be done about it...especially if it of the will of those people that populate said nation...democracy and all that

Well, I'm sure a solution could be found but Ireland is bound to the EU by international treaties and since there is no procedure to leave the EU if a country would want to it is to the discretion of the other members if they will let Ireland leave. The people of Ireland wanting to leave doesn't really matter so much.

Besides that the economic crisis seems to have swung the opinion of Ireland in favour of the Lisbon treaty (58% in favour now). The expectations are that there will be a new referendum with some very minor changes that favour Ireland this fall.
