A Hard Forte turnaround grabs all three points for Saints at St. Mary's.

Saints decided to do things the hard way against top six challengers MK Dons, coming from two goals down to claim the all important maximum points.

Nigel Adkins recalled Guly to the side, in place of the injured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while new boy Dale Stephens and the returning David Connolly made the substitutes bench.

Saints took just six minutes to give the visitors a scare, Lee Barnard denied by David Martin in the Dons goal. Guly and Chaplow both had efforts on goal, while Sam Baldock forced an opening for the away side.

Both Guly and Adam Lallana should have done better, before the Dons took the lead in the 34th minute against the run of play, McKenzie meeting a well taken corner to head home.

Skipper Dean Hammond tried to fire the hosts level before the break, but his effort flew over.

It was double despair for the Saints faithful, and there was a real sense of "Here we go again" when the Dons hit Saints on the break in the 51st minute and Sam Baldock doubled their lead.

The Dons looked comfortable after doubling their advantage and were pushing forward before Nigel Adkins decided to change things around for Saints. Jonathon Forte replacing Richard Chaplow.

Forte proved the perfect introduction, making an immediate impact, volleying his first touch of the ball to set himself up to score with his second. And before the crowd could say "We're back in this", Forte levelled the scores with his third, turning home Martin's save from Harding.

Dale Stephens had been introduced in place of Guly for his debut in between Saints quickfire levellers, and now the crowd was vocal and lively, the game turned completely on it's head, it now looked like the home side were the most likely to take all the points.

Frazer Richardson came on for Danny Butterfield in a like for like swap, before Marsh-Brown went close for the Dons.

Saints completed a stunning come back in the 76th minute, Rickie Lambert teeing up Lee Barnard to whip the ball past Martin. Lallana nearly made it four for the Saints before Leven rattled the crossbar with a freekick to give the home side a late scare, but they held on to keep the automatic promotion charge on track.
