• Rickie Lambert keeps his England Place

    Following on from his heroics against Scotland, Rickie Lambert has kept his place in the England squad ahead of our two crucial world cup qualifiers next month.

    Alongside this, England u21 call ups for Luke Shaw and James Ward-Prowse have also been confirmed.

    Alongside first time call ups for Everton's Ross Barkley and Tottenham's Andros Townsend, Rickie Lambert has been called up to provide options up front as one of the five strikers called into the squad.

    Rickie's competition for a starting place include the usual suspects of Wayne Rooney, Jermaine Defoe and Danny Welbeck. Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge has also been rewarded for his good form with a recall.

    England play against Maldova at Wembley on the 6th September with a critical away tie against Ukraine on the 10th.

    Luke Shaw and James Ward-Prowse are also in line to play for England for the u21 team. Luke Shaw is still to make his debut having withdrawn injured when previously called up, Ward-Prowse is now looking to step up another level having previously played for the national u20's, u19's and u17's sides. The u21's are facing Moldova at the Madejski stadium on the 5th Septemeber and are away to Finland on the 9th.
