• Three of a Kind for England

    Rickie Lambert celebrated his third national call up today while Adam Lallana received his second and Jay Rodriguez received a surprise but well deserved first inclusion in the England squad. All three names are in contention to compete in England's friendlies against Chile and Germany next week.



    The first three Saints to play together in an England side since 1986?


    While Rickie Lambert is now seemingly a consistent part of England's national side it is wonderful to see that Adam Lallana's fine form has been rewarded with a second call-up for his country. Jay Rodriguez' first national call is however more of a surprise given that he has not been an automatic first choice in our starting line up. Nonetheless his recent form, including goals against Fulham and Stoke City, has been rewarded.

    This is undoubtedly a halcyon time for our home grown players, with James Ward-Prowse, Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw also featuring for England at junior level. Indeed, that Nathaniel Clyne did not receive a full call up, despite the inclement form that is currently effecting Glen Johnson and Kyle Walker, was a surprise in some quarters. It is hoped that our three members of the national side will be given the chance to do themselves justice.
