• INJURY NEWS: Toby Alderweireld ruled out for 4 weeks

Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Alderweireld, 25, was withdrawn by Saints boss Ronald Koeman just 21 minutes into the game at Old Trafford, after a hamstring injury sustained in the process of clearing the ball away from danger.

It is expected that Alderweireld will be sidelined for around 4 weeks. The Belgian picked up a similar injury in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates earlier this season.

Florin Gardos replaced the on-loan defender as Saints went on to win 1-0, but options are now limited due to Maya Yoshida's representation of Japan in the Asia Cup.

Yoshida could be away until the 7th of February, should Japan manage to reach the final.
