• INTERNATIONAL CALL-UP: Eljero Elia returns to Holland set-up

The on-loan Saints winger has been called up for the first time since October 2012.

Eljero Elia has been named in Guus Hiddink's preliminary squad to face Turkey and Spain.

After playing in the 2010 World Cup Final for his country, Elia's last appearance for Holland came in a 4-1 win against Romania in October 2012 - as an 89th minute substitute.

Since then, the Dutchman's career was considered to be going wayward, with then Holland boss Louis van Gaal not selecting the former Juventus and Hamburger SV winger - leaving him stranded on 27 caps.

Following his move to Southampton, the ADO Den Haag academy graduate spoke of his belief that Ronald Koeman could help him get his career back on track.

It appears that may now be the case, and Elia has stated a desire to remain at Saints beyond the length of his loan deal.

German newspaper Bild today report that they expect the deal to be made permanent, with Saints holding an option to buy the player until May.
