• MATCH REPORT: SAINTS 4-2 Manchester City - Barclays Premier League - 2015-16

Sadio Mané bagged a hat-trick as Saints blew Manchester City away.

Sadio Mané's second hat-trick in Southampton colours came as Saints ran out convincing winners against a below-par Manchester City side.

There were three changes to the starting line-up, with Cuco Martina, Jordy Clasie and Mané all returning to the team. As a result, Cédric, Oriol Romeu and Jay Rodriguez all dropped to the bench.

Saints started strongly, but almost went behind when Kelechi Iheanacho cut the ball back for Raheem Sterling. However, the England winger's effort was parried away by Fraser Forster.

The deadlock ended soon after, when Martina's curved pass over the top was expertly flicked back by Dušan Tadić for the onrushing Shane Long to poke home and record his 100th goal in English football.

Within three further minutes, Saints doubled their lead. Tadić was at the heart of the action once again, threading the ball in for Mané to advance on goal and fire a low effort past Joe Hart.

City pulled a goal back just before half-time, when Iheanacho headed in after a dangerous cross from Samir Nasri.

There were no changes at the interval, following which Saints scored their third goal with the first clear chance of the second half.

Virgil van Dijk connected with Steven Davis' corner, but his header bounced off the crossbar and was eventually bundled home by the waiting Mané.

Van Dijk was denied again moments later, this time by City goalkeeper Hart himself. The Dutch defender executed an overhead kick that required the England stopper to tip the ball over his crossbar.

Saints would register a fourth goal soon after, with Tadić once again releasing Mané, who confidently finished inside Hart's near post.

That goal saw Mané become only the second player to score more than one hat-trick for Southampton, the other player, of course, being Matthew Le Tissier.

Iheanacho then grabbed his second of the game, picking up the ball and expertly curling the ball past Forster.

There were to be no further goals, as Saints chalked up their first back-to-back four-goal wins in the Premier League era.

Saints now head to White Hart Lane next Sunday, for their final away game of the 2015-16 season. The match will be shown live on Sky Sports.
