    STORY OF THE GAME:

    Virgil van Dijk's last-gasp equaliser rescued a point for Saints as they turned in a below-par performance at St. Mary's.

    The game swung when José Fonte saw red for hauling down Fabio Borini, with the Black Cats continuing to apply added pressure.

    Eventually that pressure told, when Jermain Defoe slotted past Fraser Forster after good work from Lamine Koné.

    Van Dijk snatched a dramatic late equaliser though, sweeping the ball home from 12 yards out.
