  1. I'd of thought you would have to move from the family stand. Maybe the equivalent priced seas will be available in the remaining seated areas of the Itchen/Northam and/or Kingsland/Northam corners, but I doubt it. Possibly the Chapel stand will be the `lower cost' stand, but more likely the safe standing Northam will be seen as the new lower cost option and everywhere else will be regular prices.
  2. Anyone actually been to a game with safe standing? What's it like? It obviously doesn't offer the same thrills and experience as the packed terraces, but does it lend itself to more singing, more confidence to start a song, make an anonymous comment...
  3. Perhaps if they didn't spunk £10m a year on interest payments fans wouldn't have to cover their rising `operational costs'. Some already have been. I seem to recall a match day ticket at SMS for Sains Man City was about £52. Laughable. My Fareham Town season ticket is less than that. The standard is shite, but the day out with a couple of friends and a beer or two is pretty good. When you step away from religiously buying a Saints season ticket, it becomes very apparent how much it costs and the value you get back. Hopefully, Saints will go up and then the ST price will seem pretty reasonable (in modern times). If we don't, it's only a couple more seasons until we get the begging sales emails and them telling us how much they value us supporters etc.

Could not agree more. When we score a goal how many Saints fans look at it from a defensive point of view and question the keepers position, speed off their line or ability to get down to save etc. None. We all look at the parts played by our own players in the goal being scored. Watch the other championship keepers closely and most are equally terrible/good.
  5. Understandable that you are considering your ST then. Looks like your current seat might be desirable to the Itchen North fans.
  6. I thought the same (he possibly has a clause entitling him to another contract if he plays a certain number of games too- another reason why he hasn't figured), but wondered then why McCarthy was on the bench for the first half of the season and not Lumley. Very strange that Lumley gets a new contract - suggesting RM rates him - only for him to be dropped to third choice last night. Why offer a keeper a new deal when we are close to promotion if you don't think he's even your second best keeper? I guess McCarty is a dead cert to leave, so RM didn't want to be searching for two keepers this summer. However, Lis will come back, so even if McCarthy and Lumley left he'd of had two keepers. Intriguing situation. We fucked the keeper position up last time we had an opportunity to reset. Are we doing that again?
  7. I'm a big fan, but also see his shortfalls (defensively especially). Like all wingers, he will have days when things don't come off or he is just not involved. For example, Fraser in the Blackburn game did absolutely nothing. What Brooks does do is try things. When they come off he looks absolutely magic. When they don't, you wonder what all the fuss is about. I really look forward to seeing him play. I'd love him to be absolutely brilliant in the run in (putting any doubts about him behind me) and for us to sign him in the summer. I know a lot has been said about whether we needed to bring him in, especially when other positions looked to be more needy, but perhaps solutions for those positions were not available and by bringing him in I think we have added a very different type of wide man that compliments the tricks, pace and drive offered by Edozie, Sullemana and Fraser. Add Armstrong into that equation and yes, we have two many players for the positions available, but what a great situation to have.
  8. Lumley literally just signed a new contract with us. The selection of McCarthy is obviously complicated by his current contract, which more than likely has a sizeable amount determined by whether he is in the side or not and also the potential for an extension if he plays a certain number of games. Putting that to one side, I did find it strange that Lumley got a new deal before we knew what league we were going to be in. If we get promoted will he still be our second choice (that RM doesn't even think is better than McCarthy) or would promotion mean we could afford to buy a new number 1 and he would drop to third choice (who knows where Lis fits in)?
  9. The so called richest game in football could come a few weeks early. Winner takes all. Has that happened before in the championship? I remember watching the Liverpool arsenal Micky Thomas game all those years ago. Unbelievable tension. Imagine the last few minutes of Leeds vs saints if we are drawing and because of the results/scores related Ipswich and Leicester, either team will be promoted if they win. End to end carnage.
  10. To be fair he hasn't played a game this season until tonight. He only played the last six Prem league games last season and we lost all of them apart from the Liverpool draw. So maybe it was against Sheffield Wednesday in the league cup last season. He saved the seventh penalty.
  11. A signing we have bought or a signing we have loaned in?
  12. There were some moments on Saturday where you could see the tremendous quality he posesses. There was a chipped cross that was exquisite, fantastic control under pressure and flicks inside to keep a move flowing. Defensively he's usually shit, but I can see why RM wants him in the side. On a good day he's just a better player than the other options. Let's hope tonight is one of those good days.
  13. I am not saying you are wrong (in fact I've mentioned reverting to 442 or 451 to ensure fullbacks are protected, but when we lead, don't continue to attack and then concede, how many people moan on here about us sitting back?
