  1. Might be easier to just go and win the FA Cup.
  2. http://imgur.com/CMnX0lh Click the link to see the picture. Maybe this is just unfortunate timing, but what are people's thoughts on Mane happily smiling as he left the pitch yesterday? Just after our most sickening defeat in several years? Maybe he is just being polite to his mate, but a picture is worth a thousand words. I'm not sure if I should be angry... does he care?
  3. I got excited at the thought of this (live in Australia but moving to London in February) and then realised that there would basically be no chance of getting a ticket anyway. One of the drawbacks about being a well supported club. Would have got a ticket if it was a Portsmouth final.
  4. Good first 45 minutes, usual silky stuff. 2nd half we came out and looked lazy. Then we conceded and it got even worse. Like watching a depressed XI. Some credit to Schneiderlin who I thought was excellent. Shaw and Lambert have done their England hopes some harm.
  5. I took a brief trip to Brussels with a mate last June as we were breaking up a trip to Amsterdam. Highlights include walking past an 'eco-toilet' in the middle of a street, seeing a well dressed man crouched in a lift sorting some drugs and eating at a restaurant where we were frowned upon for not being able to speak French. In all seriousness the only two things that were impressive was the main square (Grote Markt) and the Atomium, which I only saw from a distance on the train. I still believe that Belgium is a nice country but parts of Brussels really disappointed!
  6. The whole thing paints a sad picture on society. A lethal mix of peer pressure and drinking... hardly a surprise it originates from Australia!
  7. Feeling flat right now, mainly because of the injuries. Losing Lovren would kill any hopes of winning the cup, we need him to be fit within the month. A shame not to win, but we were awesome in the first half! Though Lovren and Ramirez's injury has to be the focus - would be gutted if either miss the World Cup
  8. I think the quality of the strike at Everton has been a boost for him. He was exactly the man we needed to bring on and MP made the sub at the right time. Ramirez is that player who can pick the ball up in the midfield and create something from nothing. More than often he will fail and give the ball away but if you are patient with him he will come good and create an opening. He did that today for Lallana and this was why we won!

    Howard Webb

Football fans talking about referees is similar to football fans talking about the Swedish economy. They don't know what they're talking about. Webb took the sting out of today's game on a few occasions when things were looking like getting nasty. He would have been aware of the history of this fixture (last season) and he made sure this wasn't going to happen again. Perfect example of this was when Ramirez was involved in a small foul off the ball - he gave WBA the free kick and was able to have a quick word with Ramirez & Co while he allowed a substitution to take place. It is these unnoticed things that make one referee better than another. I'm not sure how many of the comments about the Clyne foul are coming from fans who have not had the benefit of a replay. The replay clearly shows that Anelka made no dangerous contact and it appeared that Clyne made the most of it. Perfect decision. Lovren's foul on Long was a little late, studs were showing on the ankle and it was a yellow card. Perfect decision. It could have been a red card for Olsson and it was never a free kick at the end of the game with Shaw. Imperfect decisions but human decisions nonetheless. We all have our opinions but when attempting to discuss referees try taking those red and white glasses off - unless they are glued to your nose.
  10. Say you are the referee and Ashley Young has conned you in the past. The decision has embarrassed you as a referee and Young is to blame - he's also got away scot free. Would you not think twice if the same player went down in another game? It's only human. Ashley Young has made his own bed and he can lie on it. Let me pose a question that (hopefully) will allow some to look at referees in a positive light. Who should be England's representative at the World Cup? Mike Dean?
  11. He's really lacking at the moment. Bialkowski was better at the same age. Definitely need a new keeper.
  12. Hooiveld's performance was a disgrace today. Big questions need to be asked of him and why Fonte is not a preferred option. Is there anyone out there who can see a future for Jos at this level? Why on earth is MP playing him over Fonte?
  13. As long as Blatter gets his cash then Morgan could probably go and play for Honduras.
  14. It strikes me, especially when you look at that list provided by qwertySFC, that the skates only ever sign players with perceived pedigree. I assume this is to keep the faithful happy. A lot of loanees have come in from big clubs - the perception is that these players would be good. Connolly, Racon, Ferry, Agyemang among others had all played at a higher level just before signing for the skates - the perception is that these players would be good. We know they don't do young players - they're never good enough because they don't have big league pedigree. Ask yourself this... if in our situation, would they have tried to sign Rickie Lambert? I really doubt they would - the perception would have been his previous clubs were all crap and signing a player from Bristol Rovers would have been an embarrassment to their massive club.
  15. Dear Skate It's not a privilege to manage Pompey, I just needed a job. The club has a history but I'm told that we are now fan owned and have nothing to do with the past. There is no glass ceiling on this club in the long term, though the glass floorboards are showing signs of cracking. The short term is very simple. I've got to call Autoglass in the morning to fix the cracks with their special resin. I'm told that the budget will be altered to accomodate this. We'll then move on to our match against Newport County where we will fight and work hard despite being scared of you and your high expectations. County are a good side, made even better by the fact that this will be their cup final. If you possibly can, please come down to Fratton Park on Saturday. We don't really care about your support, we just need the money. Pay up Pompey Richie Barker Manager, Portsmouth FC
