  1. I missed the entire game as. I was chairing my last Council meeting as Mayor. But it’s not difficult to pick up the anger over the way we played without ungency, determination or commitment. Hadn’t the players been told this game was it? Win or we’re down? Surely they don’t still think escape is on? What worries me most is I think the problems at the club now run far deeper than players or even manager. I never thought I’d say this, but we were lucky that although Gao put no money into the club hd didn’t interfere. I fear we have the opposite now. Owners who think they know better than the people appointed to do jobs. How else can you explain the ludicrous appointment of Jones? Things were very shaky under Ralph but we’d got 12 points from 14 games. Personally I think he should have had the WC break and January window to have a last go at turning it round: we’d had injuries and has no striker. Since then we’ve had two managers who have brought nothing and delivered another 12 points, but from 19 games and wasted money on Onuachu. Last Summer’s buying was also flawed: no striker (except Mara) and over-emayhasis on what seemed more of a business model rather than building a football team - far too many young players with potential but little experience. They’re now mainly out in the cold. Yes, I’m pessimistic because it there aren’t big changes at Board level and restructuring under a motivational manager who will seriously kick some arses, we will not compete in the Championship. There is something rotten in the state of St Marys.
  2. In my morose and depressed state I can’t help thinking about JWP going off at half time last night. It’s probably just me being sceptical, and I know the official reason was illness, but I just wonder if our docile captain could have blown his top at half time? We were playing badly. Bournemouth were weak in the air, so our tall striker wasn’t even in the squad. Our most creative players and best striker didn’t start. AA and Elyounoussi were passengers. We were far too tentative. Just imagine JWP and maybe others demamdong change and Selles not liking the criticism. Answer: put JWP in his place, take him off and do the opposite by going even more defensive. And what makes me think something had happened was we actually got worse after half time which I didn’t think possible. Looked like a lot of not caring. You’ll appreciate I’m a great one for a conspiracy theory but it’ll be interesting to see it Prowsey “recovers” by Sunday. (Or if Selles lasts that long)
  3. Not ridiculous at all. With the spirit we showed yesterday ate you saying we wouldn't have won more games in January? Of course you can't extrapolate precisely but the point is we'd be a damn sight better off. As for the games before the WC, Sells would have had the same injuries as Ralph had to deal with, so who knows. Sorry I won't be replying. I rarely come in here any more and only get three posts. Really just came to see if it's any more rational than it used to be, but in general would not appear to be so.
  4. Also one last reflection. We’ve won 2/3 of our league games since Ruben took over. If he’d been appointed earlier instead Jones and had that success rate, we’d now have 13 more points. Mid table and virtually safe. We also might have spent a lot less, or more wisely, during January. We’re stuck with at least two Jones players I don’t blame Jones for that. I blame the idiots who appointed him.
  5. Feels a bit strange having missed the whole game and just going on others’ reactions. A few thoughts. I think Bazunu has generally been good but some now seem.very critical. I still think he’s the best option. For all Bednarek’s errors, the more he plays, the less he’s a liability. Probably have Salisu back when he’s fit or DCC when he’s been calmed down a bit. Forget Lyanco and Bree. But we now have options that aren’t too bad. Same at FB. I prefer KWP and Perrauld as KWP is on his natural side, but I don’t deny AMN has done well. So an option there too. Overall it’s nearly a settled defence that has only conceded one in three games. The midfield of Alcaraz, JWP and Lavia can be good. With the three, one can always get forward. It’s up front where we still have too many options, mainly poor. Walcott was surprisingly good yesterday: perhaps he can thrive in an elder statesman, responsible role. Sulamana (sp?) is exciting as is Edozie, but neither is mature enough to give a complete display. Orsic and Aribo look out of it now. SA has lost something. Is he fit? AA works hard defensively but isn’t skilled in creativity or finishing. Moi is similar but a little more composed. I like Che: he assisted the goal. Mara isn’t ready and I really can’t decide about Tall Paul. With no look in yesterday, is he doomed to be the next failure, or will there be games where he’ll come into his own? So I’m not sure we can do better than the starting front three yesterday but maybe there’s a winning formula somewhere.
  6. This, totally. I hate the phrase "he had a right to go down". No player has the right to go down. You either get knocked down or you're cheating - simulation that should be penalised with a yellow card every time.
  7. I thought the same about both VAR offside decisions. Seems that me it's all too easy to engineer the lines by choosing one frame forwards or backwards, especially when it's very close. In other games recently we've seen decisions from VAR that looked very strange, including a Rashford goal at the weekend, and it's hard not to think outcomes are being manipulated.
  8. Hopefully we won't. Much rather Selles.
  9. There was a real connect between the team and Selles today in exactly the way there wasn't with Jones.
  10. Rumour has it they'll want Selles but no way we should let him go.
  11. I've heard (can't guarantee truth) that Jones cost us in excess of £8m for his 94 day stay. Nearly £90,000 a day and over £2.5m a point. Ouch. Tge claim was £4m to Luton and his contract of £1.25m a year for 3.5 years paid off in full.
  12. Just (against my better judgement) watched MOTD. Two goals that shouldn't have happened. Two JWP free kicks wasted. But it has to be on Jones who totally failed to respond to Wolves making changes. Except by taking off both full backs. He looks a terrified, nervous wreck on the touchline. Exactly what neither the team nor the fans want. Compare with Wolves manager: calmly watching amd planning.
  13. He gave us Bree and Bednarek back. Whoopee.
  14. I heard they were visibly shocked last night when told of the depth of fans' anger.
