  1. It is disingenuous to limit our appreciation of Ralph to his ability to have kept us in the PL. He did far more than that and had us top of the league for a brief moment. Given Saints were a cash strapped club unable to buy decent players to fit the system he wanted to play, he did extremely well to fashion a team from our dross that at times looked like they could claim a top ten berth; alas even Ralph could not defy gravity indefinitely but he did not have to suffer the ignominy of relegation. Could he have kept us up? That's the million dollar question that will never be answered. Especially I miss his press conferences that were always full of good humour and bon amis, an intelligent but humble man that rarely had a bad word to say about any body or anything. Good luck Ralph and hope to see you around these parts soon.
  2. Play the ball not the man. Everyone has a different point of view. Take a chill pill!
  3. Leeds turn to win today. The top three are relentless, we are falling further and further behind. It will be hard to drop any lower than 4th or to climb any higher. At least we should get our day out at Wembley probably against Leicester at this rate.
  4. One thing is evident from Leicester's performance today is that they are a much more accomplished and skilful side than Saints and will do well in the PL next season. Can't see us getting anything from our game against them and they could run us ragged.
  5. If Ipswich win today, we will have a very hard job trying to catch them. Points on the board are always far more valuable than games in hand especially at this stage of the season. Hoping for a miracle but come 5.00pm it may be we might have to settle for fourth place with three away games on the trot coming soon.
  6. Bournemouth seem to think he is expendable even at their level as a struggling PL side so hardly likely to be much help for Saints in staying in the PL event we get there. Apart from the goals he has not impressed and seems unable to cement a place in our starting XI
  7. !00% Exactly the point I was making. It's short sighted and will have consequences in the summer.
  8. Exactly! I imagine Martin thinks he is a world class juggler but playing THB - probably the best CB in this league - at RB to make a space for an ageing sheepdog is a recipe for disaster. It's an insult to the player so come the end of the season, why would he want to stay here?
  9. We did in 1948/49 season, miles clear of everyone then screwed up with about 8 matches to go. Failed to get promotion.
  10. Southampton will try to sign Argentine forward Matias Soule from Juventus if they are promoted to the Premier League, while Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also interested in the 20-year-old. (Calciomercato - in Italian)
  11. Martin is a plodder and associates himself best with other plodders. A Saints team full of plodders will plod. He can't handle skilful players.
  12. He is much better than Martin thinks he is. Give him 6 x 90mins and he'll have chance to show what he can do. Martin persists with donkeys like Adams, Manning and Stephens yet largely ignores his pacy youngsters who could develop into a first class team in a year to two. He will lose a lot of this talent in the summer by pissing them off if he's not careful. I guess as a journeyman himself that is the only style of play that Martin feels comfortable with.
  13. Take off your blinkers, you are missing a treat.
  14. It is good that Russ and his team have addressed the issue of sloppy defensive errors leading to soft goals. What a relief that is.
