  1. So it seems that people who like money and ruining it for the rest of us are trying again. Flush with a ruling that footballs governing bodies can't stop it the fans can now be safely ignored. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67791936
  2. Charlie Munger (Warren Buffets right hand man) might not have avoided death this week but I bet he avoided a lot of taxes along the way.
  3. Having a philosophy makes you predictable, and without the individual players able of changing the approach you will get countered that's the inevitability of all football tactics that get overcome by people who don't just sit there and take it.

    Russia

I am wondering if Russia called up one of their few friends, Iran, asking if they knew anyone with some grievances, Hamas, that could cause trouble to a non Nato western aligned state, Israel, to distract the United States from continuing support to Ukraine. And letting them win their war. Seems convenient timing that a large Russian offensive attempt is launched a few days after Israel kicks off. Because pulling all the necessary equipment and hiding it away is not the work of a moment, but something that would have to be planned. This clear Russian failure is why Ukraine haven't tried their own blitzkrieg attempt but using tactics more reminiscent of British bite and hold operations from WW II.
  5. Didn't Chelsea win a league title with the 2nd or third least possession? Only lower teams were some awful relegation fodder. Not that playing ultra defensive all the time is anymore entertaining than looking like you are playing keep the ball against no one
  6. The one question I have is, If Pep Guardiola was suddenly parachuted in to our team, would he make them play the Man City way, or would he have them play a different way based on the players available strengths and weaknesses. I think Pep is a good manager, so would therefore attempt to maximize his chances rather than slavishly follow a 'system"
  7. So in modern football the hipster things is for attackers who specialize in not having the ball and defenders whose prioritize playing the ball.........
  8. I didn't see the game, so if what i read here is representative I am concerned. Because CB who had a hard time getting passes to connect with their targets when not under pressure in a walking pace friendly, in a system that demands it are really going to be in trouble when someone actually wants the ball off you.
  9. I give credit to the guy who signed the cheques, not the guys who spaffed it up the wall.
  10. I remember the reason that it was claimed that they had to be privatized in the first place was that otherwise the tax payer would be on the hook for having to pay to fix everything up to the necessary standard. Conveniently side stepping the fact the customer=tax payer (businesses and individuals) for the provision of a service to everyone. And then it seems they never spent the money to fix stuff anyway. But now it costs more and they want to ask the tax payer anyway to fix the stuff they neglected to do while saying they had to charge more to fix it! The bloody cheek of these people!
  11. My brother in law supports Club America and only speaks Spanish and I only speak English. However we get on really well. He seems to have reasonable opinions, mostly on how bad Mexico have become in the last few years.
  12. So 3 at the back again. I remember repeated attempts at this in the lead up to league games before failing in matches and eventually being abandoned. Maybe this works better in the championship where the attackers are not as adept at exploiting the massive gaps and our defenders lack of covering won't get exploited.
  13. My real contention is that there are footballers who you can see are not very good and the data doesn't seem to indicate the data presented by Mark 1 eyeballs.
  14. Why buy a dog and bark yourself. Wow what a novel concept, going back to at least 1583.
  15. So their amazing talent spotting secret is go hire the bloke from the most successful current team and get him to decide how to do stuff. It is not exactly mold breaking, but is often quite a good approach. Sounds like they realized for all their supposed genius it probably better to just let someone who knows what they are doing call the shots.
