  1. Think it was Pompey. Either the 2-1 cup win or league win the same season.
  2. Palace scored a great one at The Dell in about 1990/1. Can't remember who took kick off, or if Saints even touched the ball, but the ball ended up with Richard Shaw (I think) in the left back position who passed it back to the keeper. Sadly, the keeper wasn't where he thought it was and we were 1-0 up in under 20 seconds. Still lost though. Not sure if there is footage, but a skate mate tells me of them playing at Plough Lane, conceding a goal, kicking off again and passing it back to Alan Knight who was bent down doing his shoe laces and the ball trundled in. That must have been great to watch.
  3. Terry Gibson is excellent on Sky La Liga coverage, and I quite like Gerry Armstrong as well. Townsend obviously takes the award for the worst, with Niall Quinn a close second. Garry Birtles also gets a mention. For a football commentator, he doesn't seem to like football very much.
  4. Last season I had a spare kids ticket as my lad was ill and couldn't go so a mate used it instead. He decided to go to the Arsenal ticket office and explain what had happened and eventually they let him upgrade it to an adult one when he paid the difference. Good job he did as there were stewards on the gate who actually put the ticket through the scanner for you, so he wouldn't have got away with it.
  5. For pubs, Winchester is better than Southampton these days (in the city centre of both at least). Unfortunately, there's only a couple open after midnight. I think the Rising Sun, County Arms & Bakers Arms all show football on a Saturday afternoon

When I went for the pre snip meeting with the GP, I asked him if I would be alright to go to St Marys the next day. He looked at me, smiled, took a sip out of his Pompey mug and said 'so long as there are no mishaps'. During the procedure, he also said to me that being a GP was sometimes a thankless task, but being given the chance to mangle a scummers' balls and therefore make a real difference to society made it all worthwhile.
  7. Agree with all the above (though haven't been to the old operating theatre), but if you are at Borough market, then a trip to the Clink Prison is worthwhile as well. Doesn't cost much, you can normally find a two for one deal, and it is interesting to see the old torture instruments and living conditions of a debtors prison. Perhaps this should be in the Pompey takeover thread for that reason.
  8. I almost certainly won't be going, and have two season tickets with 6+ aways from last season if anyone would like to use them to get themselves tickets.
  9. They are playing in Southampton at The Roxx on 20 May as well. I saw them when they played the Soul Cellar before Xmas. Great band and very different. Loved the old video in the OP as well
  10. Saw Hertha play in the second division a couple of years back. There were 36000 there in a ground that holds twice that, and there is a huge running track (it is the Olympic Stadium from 1936) yet the atmosphere was better than anything I have seen in England for years. Yeh, some of it is choreographed, but so what? Could have got in for about 10 Euros, but splashed out 18 on seats right next to the press box
  11. I was going to ask why you thought that, but you said 'End of', so that's that. A bloke who is passionate about Saints, has followed them all over the country for years and will do all he can to help others is a bell end. Nice one.
  12. Yep, all places above such as Sparsholt, Stockbridge etc are fine for Crawley (Arqiva?) and all pretty rural. If you want a few more amenities then Weeke, Harestock, Teg Down or Fulflood (where I am) are all pretty handy and on the right side of Winch for easy access to Stockbridge Rd so you will be going against the traffic.
  13. STill see Bent_Eric, and yeh, he is a funny bloke. Think he just got bored with forums. Think he was more of an UI bloke though, wasn't he? And remember, don't sit near him on the bus.
