  1. Can't argue with that bearing in mind they were down to 10 too. I do think we're pretty good but fall a little short of Leeds, Leicester and Ipswich and wouldn't be surprised if we got beaten in all three of those away games. Said for a while now the play off final will be the Old Farm game.
  2. HT the gap between EFL and PL looked enormous now 2-2.
  3. Indeed. Doesn't help that its been a financial basket case since Madejski sold up. I believe at one point they were losing £350000 a week; their losses were eye watering.
  4. This probably ought to be in General Sports but I've put it here because one of our relatively local rivals are in such deep shit and it serves as a cautionary tale to all us football fans and is pertinent to some extent given what we were going through 15 years ago. Last week it was announced that the club needed £1m to service their obligations for March. Their Chinese owner has today effectively sold the training ground at Bearwood Park to Wycombe Wanderers, so akin to selling Staplewood to Pompey. The outcome of which makes the sale less attractive to potential investors. It appears there are interested buyers but only if the assets are wrapped up as one. It seems the sellers are more concerned about prising as much value from the club's assets that they can and are screwing up any hope of the club being sold. Dai Yongge and his sister have previously presided over the liquidation of two other clubs Beijing Renhe and KSV Roeselare in Belgium, could it be third time unlucky for Reading?
  5. Health related news site internet clickbait. You know the sort of thing , Three signs to look out for indicating that you may have cancer/heart disease etc.
  6. How long before the first 'Fuck' post comes up?
  7. One of my neighbours is a big Luton fan and we were discussing Jones on one of our morning dog walks a few weeks back. His take was that Jones was successful at Luton because many of their players owed him professionally and so they were essentially prepared to walk on water for him. When he went to Stoke the players had no such loyalty to him for their success or otherwise and all that was left was Jones rather spiky, somewhat narcissistic personality which grated with the players to the extent he lost the dressing room. This idea of a professional debt allowed him to go back to Luton and get them to the play offs before he joined Saints as they were the same players. At Saints the situation at Stoke was repeated with inevitable consequences.
  8. They took 1300 up there which is impressive. I think he's one of a relatively new breed of manager who is first and foremost a 'good person' which is why he's carried the fans with him through the adversity in plenty that they've had. As to last season he wasn't right for what we needed post Jones who doesn't come into the category of being such a 'good person'. The way I saw it is probably not dissimilar to most. Ralph was losing the dressing room and should have been replaced in the summer not at the WC break, Jones tenure ensured the dressing room was lost and it was too big a job for Selles to turn around as the damage was already done. Plus we were shit which didn't help.
  9. The training ground bought some land from Bearwood College (now Reddam House) the golf course along Mole Rd and Bearwood Riding Centre where my daughter used to ride. Lots of changes in recent years though. Houses and new roads built seemingly everywhere around Wokingham. There is now a Winnersh relief road.
  10. They are actually my local team. Never really given a s*** about them in the 40 odd years I've lived in Berkshire tbh. That said decent stadium, largish catchment and Bearwood Park is a really state of the art training facility 5 mins from my house. Been looking out for their results because of the Selles connection. My observation would be that he is the right level now, wrong for us this time last year, but his experience with Reading may well make him into a really good manager. His team are a team of babies they seem to have a spirit about them which he is very much the front and centre of.
  11. That's why they're there and we're tapping away at a keyboard 😂
  12. Also the remake of Shogun. Has Cosmo Jarvis as John Blackthorne, a bit more authentic than Richard Chamberlain. Jarvis played Barney Thomason the sniper that Tommy Shelby got to try and kill Moseley in Peakies.
