  1. Talking about the manager appointment, not the money spent, as you well know. You cheerleaders have your moment, you seem happy to get your man, congrats. At the end of the season, when we've been beaten like a ginger stepchild, will you still be cheering him on? (Last post of the day, so sincere apologies I won't be able to respond x)
  2. Disaster of a situation. Out of the frying pan... Small ambition from small minded SR. This is an awful choice, he's worse than Ralph, already a proven failure in the Prem, does not instill confidence, does not provide the presence we, and the squad, need at this time. You can try fooling yourselves that this is some inspired decision (unbelievable how many of you are trying to rationalise this) but it is truly pathetic and symptomatic of us going backwards under SR despite all that money spent. A very sad day, the writing is on the wall, and it's been daubed in shit saying we are relegated. Bugger.

    New Manager

So, this guy joins Leeds when they're in 16th place, they finish 17th on the final day and there are still bellends on here trying to convince us/themselves that he has the ability to take us forward?! I despair. This is the final nail in the coffin.
  4. Fair points, it is a struggle to think of anyone. Bielsa would at least be a fun and exciting watch, and as we don't really have much of a defence to speak of anyway we can't get much worse in that department! We may end up scoring a few goals. I just cannot see Marsch providing anything positive, and we really need some positives.
  5. I think it has to be a big well respected name, so Schreuder, Benitez even, someone to get the squad and fans back on side and get the Croatians and ABK back. Would either come? Money talks.
  6. Marsch was just sacked because of awful results and performances. Sound familiar? This must not happen or we are properly doomed. 16 games left to play, a decent manager could get us safe. The attitudes on here saying he'd be acceptable because he's less shit than NJ are tragic. We can do better, surely.
  7. Racist, sexist and homophobic. There's a position going in the Conservative Party if you fancy it?
  8. ---------------------Niemi--------------------- Van Gobbel---Svensson---Van Dijk---Shaw ---------Wanyama-----Schneiderlin--------- Walcott-----------Le Tissier-------------Bale ------------------Shearer--------------------- Subs: Grobbelaar, Monkou, Bridge, Marsden, Lallana, Mane, Lambert Genuinely think that team would have a chance.

    Alex McCarthy

This may not be a popular view, but... I think FF has had a very bad patch, but all the ability to get back to being one of the best keepers in the Prem. He also comes across as a decent man, professional. He was shocking this season but I think he can come back to form. Much rather some new coaching staff and a boost to FFs confidence to change his form. Other areas of the team (attacking midfielders and CB) needs more urgent attention. McCarthy has had a great 6 months, but he's not suddenly the best keeper in the league. Sorry to swim against the tide.
  10. Hmm, a nice notion but in reality it does not work that way every time. Do you have kids and do they support Saints? The first game I took my son to was (sorry to be a bit gloaty) the Rio derby between Vasco da Gama and Botofogo. My son is now a Vasco fan and isn't really fussed about Saints at all, regardless of geography. Lucky sod.
  11. 3 years of Mark Hughes. Bugger.
  12. I understand that, just hoping we could find a slightly more inspiring/exciting choice of manager going forward. I'm not suggesting a gung-ho Maradona-style manager, but I've seen enough of the purely hard-working, disciplined teams to know that style doesn't work for long at Premier league level. The popular assertion that Hughes will bring stability does not seem to be evidenced through his experience at other clubs. As for alternatives, it is tricky but that does not mean we shouldn't try. Aim for the stars, if you fail you may land on the moon.
  13. Doesn't fill me with joy. More an expectation of shipping out any flair and creativity and filling the squad with Telfers and Jermaine Wrights. But maybe he'll bring in Shaqiri and it'll be OK. Underwhelming appointment for me, and I think by Christmas those on here being so angry with anyone disagreeing he's the best man for the job may have changed their tune. Hope I'm wrong, but history points towards this end.
  14. Hughes has a managerial history of mediocrity, and an appalling transfer record. Really appreciate his efforts but history shows he will antagonise the players and staff fairly quickly (see... every club bar Blackburn) and whilst he added some much needed fight to our team, its not like we were suddenly playing great football. If the answer is Mark Hughes, I think we're asking the wrong question.
  15. We beat Inter Milan in Europe last season. Happy days
