  1. He also went on a run of 20 games, with 3 wins, before that. He alluded when he first came here he knows that won't be accepted. I care about results, but when you're fighting for autos you need performances alongside it, and other teams to come away from games saying 'not much we can do against that quality'. The mood would be a lot different if we had played like that Wednesday 2nd half in some of our games. So far we've had Plymouth, Norwich and QPR managers saying they should have got 3 points and Ipswich/Sunderland players coming out and saying we're predictable - I can't say I disagree with any of them as they all had better chances than us. We should be seeing signs, like Leicester and Leeds are, that his style is starting to take hold and be understood. We're not getting worse, just being punished now against better teams. Performances point towards midtable. If by some miracle we really outscore our way back into the Premier League, can you imagine what teams like Brentford, West Ham and Brighton would do to us? Not even the 'top 6'.
  2. This. The style only works if players have 1/2 touches and then others move to create openings. We don't do that meaning there is no excitement/build up outside mistakes from the opposition (see Leicester goal). You even have Ipswich fans commenting on how slow and boring we were to watch. Who knows where we'll end up this season but can see a big drop off in numbers and even worse atmospheres to come.
  3. Gio, you keep comparing Football to the theatre or other services. As someone stated in another post, football is tribal - so that doesn't match up. If Saints lose, we shouldn't, but do take it personally and react. Do i think individuals should boo Bazunu for not kicking long? no. Are people entitled to express how they feel? Yes - so stop expecting people to think like you. The way you're going on you'd think the whole stadium screamed abuse at 0-0. In reality, after going 2 down people became frustrated, as I'd hope players would too. Every successful side will say far worse to each other in the changing rooms, than a couple of fans expressing their annoyance with a pass/shot. If you don't like the support around you, move to another area where you might find people with a similar outlook to you. It's quite simple.
  4. The problem with this club is standards have dropped, referenced by players last year. Since 2017 we've had one of the worst home records in Europe, except a period during lockdown when fans couldn't attend (i worked it out last year and it was 31 wins in 6 years, or very close to). I actually think the atmosphere start of last season and this year were good - they now need to show something back as we haven't had a decent (comfortable) home performance since Brentford when SR took over. I don't begrudge fans getting frustrated. Results business, as the board are about to find out with empty seats tomorrow. Not entitled enough to think we deserve wins, but I expect if we do lose, it's not a battering, not with our squad in this league. .
  5. Would hope we give some of the youngsters a run out. If they aren't ready for league two opposition, when are they ready? Bazunu Bree Simeu ABK (Get minutes in the tank if he's still around and fit) Larios/Perraud Charles Doyle Aribo SAA Ballard Mara? (Seems to have done a disappearing act in training) Bench: Bycroft, KWP, Lyanco, Finnigan, JWP, Dibling, S Armstrong, Onuachu, Djenepo
  6. Will be an important window that could dictate are relevance/irrelevance for the next decade. Realistically we need a lot, as this current batch would be relegation contenders (as has been shown against Blackpool/Sheffield Wednesday/Grimsby - all unconvincing) and a lot of unknowns (how will Tino be after a nasty injury?). This is the state I think we'll be in: GK - Bazunu, McCarthy, Lis RB - Tino, Bree CB - Stephens LB - Perraud, Larios CDM - CM - Alcaraz, Smallbone CAM - Aribo LW/RW - Sulemana, Edozie, Djenepo ST - Onuachu, Armstrong, Mara Definitely going: Moi, Walcott, Caballero, AMN Off on the cheap (contracts): Salisu, Adams (want to keep, but £10-15 mill and a refusal to sign a new deal means he'll go). Could add Smallbone and Stephens but think we'll offer them new deals and more likely to stay. Most likely off with the right bid (all better than 2nd division and will attract attention from top divisions across Europe): JWP, KWP, Lavia, Bednarek, Tella, ABK Off if anyone will take them: Diallo, Lyanco, DCC, Orsic Leaves us with 16 if that happens so at least another 6 needed - either new players or youth team step ups. Just hope our board don't roll over in negotiations as they did with with Romeu - club needs always before keeping good relationships with players.
  7. Thoughts of the game are similar to the Villa game, better 2nd half but the gaps in key positions, we should have filled already, are still there…shock. Side note, didn’t take Newcastle fans long to become arrogant and complacent. Shame, used to enjoy our games as they had some proper football folk. Sure they’re still there, but a lot seem to be mimicking Chelsea levels of entitlement.
  8. Do we know if H was ever put on sale? I know someone said they saw it but it wasn’t an option for me in my window!
  9. Ahhh, it would seem N doesn’t actually exist on our system? I looked at those singles originally and pretty sure they were included as M. Would make sense they’re N. Would suggest we’re probs at about 2k. Big take up Monday, and a result Tuesday, we take it all. Heavy defeat and the returns could tally up!! UTS
  10. It’s J and H that had been held back as I’m in K and that was the furthest block Thursday - so if all correct means we’ve opened up our full allocation. We do have a few 100 northern based fans who may snap up more during general. Tight game Tuesday and people will find a way to get there.
  11. No, but 4 blocks are. Over 500 per block, then 150 odd for the little bits at the front. X4 and it’s roughly 2800. Then another 1000 is greyed out - which I assume unless a big in flux happens before Tuesday, will go to Newcastle’s fans
  12. Home seems to be well on it’s way to a sell out. Just the family stand and usual parts of the Chapel to go. Just got mine for the away leg. Sales look a little slow. Procrastinating and worked out we’ve got roughly 2800 up for sale, with under 1/2 of that being sold so far going on visuals. Would be a shame if we couldn’t at least get close to a sell out, but I guess people will wait until Tuesday (by which point the club most likely would have sent back the extra 1k). Seem to remember us taking 5k to Liverpool - albeit more time to arrange.
  13. Agreed. I face palmed when he referenced the two fixtures we got points from. I don’t see the point of asking transfer related questions, they’re not gonna tell you who and when. Although think the email question was more about away fans sitting in home ends. The email blamed Saints fans for the inevitable trouble that follows…not stewards letting them wear colours and inciting fans (box or not it shouldn’t happen). Leeds will be interesting if they take this hardline approach demonstrated at Monaco for standing…
  14. Had a conversation with one of the members of staff over the phone about Liverpool. He claimed “Liverpool always sells out quite quickly” no response when I questioned surely that’s an indication we should have taken more. Conspiracy theory: any correlation that we’ve taken 1200 for both Leicester and Palace, happens to be the amount of tickets that will go on sell for Bournemouth? I genuinely believe it’s an attempt to get the same people turning up every week and lower the ‘undesirable’. Imagine the fact Portsmouth had a few more turn up than our allocation would have riled up the police team.
