Meanwhile back in the real world : 'Absurd Science Fiction': Wagner Group Boss Slams Russian Claims Of Ukrainian Losses (msn.com) Little changes in the Kremlin these days. The Ukraine MOD tally of Russian dead alone so far have passed 210k. This maybe a little fanciful but even if only 2/3rds accurate, and allowing for well accepted military extrapolation to wounded, missing etc, this may put total Russian casualties nearing 500k, against an enemy with little air power, no navy and a fairly weak cricket team by all accounts.
  2. It seems clear to me that immigration at these levels is unsustainable at best and an inevitable disaster for the country. As a land mass England is now the most densely populated country in Europe. Our public services are being overrun and our housing is in crisis, there appears to be no end to numbers of people on this scale wanting to live here, despite the UK now being a basket case due to Brexit (?). The public have been consistently lied to since Blair opened the gates and Cameron happily talked of immigration numbers in the "tens of thousands", despite being advised that this was bullshit. This lie has been repeated since as it's considered a large enough issue to win votes. Of course there are those who are happy to see large numbers of immigrants, as it increases our GDP (slightly), so Sunak can impress his globalist mates, and provides a larger pool of cheaper labour, despite the fact we already have 5 million people not currently working.

I think the BBC headline is at best speculative, at worst bloody irresponsible. Nobody knows yet what happened between the shadowy figure opening fire, clearly at AFU , and the aftermath. There are other instances of "surrendered" Russians attempting to throw a grenade for example, and Russia have form for false surrenders, something the 30th Airborne would have been well aware of. If there's any doubt they're not going to f*** about. Russia of course will try and milk this and will face the inevitable backlash, they're certainly in no position to judge on what appears to be a live combat situation. This sends out a clear message, if you attempt deadly force whilst surrendering, we'll do the lot of you.
  4. I was at the 1st fixture - a rare away day for me, we found a local working mens club before the game, about thrupence a pint IIRC, although my memory isn't what it was. We were lucky not to get beat in the end.
  5. Some magical moments, I was there for some, not for others. Perhaps someone could help me out, I recall Steve Williams scoring at the Archers Road end, dribbled past several players, rounded the keeper but was forced out very wide (left side), still tucked it in from what must have been the acutest of angles, the crowd thought the chance had gone. Not "the best" but one that I still remember.

I caught this last night, f*** me those Ukrainians were lucky that the Russians fled, even though they had numerical advantage and seemed to be reasonably well armed. I think the BMP could have flanked them if need be though and wiped them out with the auto canon. Morale obviously not too good in the Russian trenches these days

Would have to agree, it dosen't look remotely viable, the idea alone may force Russia to place some forces there but that's about all. The Melitopol offensive seems a little too ambitious at the moment as well. This could be it for a while as far as large AFU gains are concerned unless the Luhansk fronts collapse?

This may be a bluff : If AFU can secure a foothold here it would be a doorway into the eastern part of the territory?

In his statement, Igor said that no equipment or men were lost during the "prepared" withdrawal. That at least must be of some comfort to Manji.

The retreating Russians were given a traditional Ukrainian send off : All bridges, including the Antonovsky have been completely blown by all accounts, so it may be an artillery slugfest across the river for a while, which would be in Ukraine's favour as they have more range and accuracy than the Russian stuff. The "end of the beginning" perhaps?

Of course the money as well as far as the soldiers are concerned, but the Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin certainly seems to have political ambitions as well, likes to be seen as the only man that gets things done. Meanwhile the Russian corpses continue to pile up.
