  1. Probably, but they did just sign Meyer - who often players number 10 or 8 - on massive deal and Kouyate, so they may not be in the market for yet another CM.
  2. Rumour is that Chelsea are bringing in Kovacic on loan, leaving Chelsea with around nine players in the first-team squad fighting over 3 CM spots. Although are midfield is arguably our strongest area, surely adding someone like Loftus-Cheek, who looks like his minutes could be limited, on loan would be a good option for us?
  3. Suprised Bertrand isn't in the squad and that Heaton go picked as stand-by over McCarthy despite not playing since September. Also strikes me as quite a one-dimensional midfield with Henderson, Dier (even he's debatable), and Loftus-Cheek being the only out-and-out central midfielders. Little creativity in that midfield as well... (Can't believe Welbeck got the call...)
  4. Personally, I think (and this is seemingly confirmed by interviews with the players) that Hughes is a good Head Coach - he gets the best out of players, he gets the players on board, the tactics do get results (as this season and his previous seasons at Stoke show), and the players seem happy and fit with his training. However, my reservations with appointing him is that we would have a triumvirate of Hughes, Reed, and Wilson making the key off-field decisions. All three of them have player recruitment histories that can only be desciribed as average-at-best: Reed (as most people on here seem to agree) doesnt have the greatest player recruitment history, and the same could be said with Wilson. On top of this, especially what has been by the Stoke players and staff, Hughes doesn't have a great recent record of signing players (e.g. Wimmer, Bojan, Jese, Affeley, etc.). Combining these three worries me, especially as we do need some quality additions to help stabilise us and move back up the table.
  5. If we're looking for a goal-scoring, all-rounded no.10, an interesting choice might be Alireza Jahanbakhsh. He's a no.10/winger playing for AZ in Holland. Top goalscorer in the Eredivisie this year (21 goals) and 3rd top assister in the league (12 assists). Seems to be very much a Saints type of signing and shouldn't really break the bank.
  6. Not sure how true this story is (or if it has been mentioned before) but Bild reported that we have passed up on signing Max Meyer, the 22-year-old AM German intenrational from Schlake, on a free contract in the summer because he asked for a signing on bonus of just under 10m euros. If this is true then that is horrible business passing up on a player apparently being touted to Liverpool and Arsenal (according the the British press) and, at the very least, would have resale value. https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/schalke/kein-interesse-southampton-lehnt-meyer-ab-55598470.bild.html#fromWall
  7. Branfoot's win %: 28.9%. Pellegrino's win %: 22.2%.
  8. I would agree but he was sacked essentially because he refused to sign a striker and I feel like thats not what we need right now.
  9. Apologies, Marcos Llorente is still at Madrid. This is Diego Llorente, another Madrid player
  10. Llorente's gone to Sociedad: https://beta.realsociedad.com/es/noticias/detalle/la-real-sociedad-ficha-a-diego-llorente
