  1. Wanted to give this thread a bump and see if 1. We have any new Saints fans in Germany and 2. If people would be interested in getting together to watch a televised game this season? I'm in Bavaria but open to travel to watch a game elsewhere if we can get a group together somewhere. Cheers!
  2. I just found out from a friend who works for a company who design stadium hospitality 'services' (I.e. they recently redesigned all the new restaurants, lounges, boxes at the Etihad) that Saints were tendering for a big ticket revamp of hospitality at St Mary's . However, post the Hughes departure we've cancelled the RfP - and it's commonly understood this is becuase the budget for it walked out the door with Hughes. Not that surprising, but frustrates me that so much of our budget (be it for players, infrastructure etc) exits the club when poorly recruited managers, players and coaches do. If we have ambitions to really compete (on the pitch, the hospitality can come later) we just cannot be as wasteful as we have been over the last 2-3 years. The club directors have regularly spoken about due dilligence of signings and Managers but I simply don't buy it - Carillo being to most obvious evidence to the contrary. Anway, thought this snippet might be of interest to some on here - especially with Ralph K set to no doubt bring up the 'successful commercial development' of the club at the meeting on Thursday.
  3. Enjoyed that. Keep it up! Favourite line (regarding our dodgy penalty spot): "There's no conspiracy, just cock-up."
  4. Plenty of Irish, Asian, Russian United/Zlatan/Schweini fans in the pub here as well - they were pretty quiet tbh. Felt like me and the other Saints fan were the only ones actually watching and reacting to the game. Anyway, good to know there's at least one other Bavarian based Saints fan - let me know if you ever want to get together to watch one of our televised games.
  5. *Bump* Any Saints who are going to be in Munich for the cup final? I'm planning to watch the game at Kilians Irish pub, would be great to get a few of us together if possible!
  6. Killians in Munich I'm planning to book a table for me and a couple of others (not Saints or United fans). Would be great to watch with other Saints who are in Munich on the day!
  7. I'm a Southampton born, Saints fan now living in Munich... Any other German based fans on here?
  8. I live in Stuttgart and have adopted VfB as my German team. Kostic has been very good for the past two seasons, albeit in an extremely poor side who were recently relegated. Fast winger with a cracking left foot delivery. He's only 23 and would be a good signing in my opinion. Though, I thought Romeu wouldn't cut it for us after his loan spell at Stuttgart last year, so who knows. Imagine there will be a lot of competition for his signature, Wolfsburg reportedly offered €20m+ last summer after selling De Bruyne which Stuttgart rejected.
  9. I'm a life long Saints fan currently living in Stuttgart. As they are now my local team, I watched VfB Stuttgart fairly regularly last season and work with quite a few season ticket holders. They don't rate him, at all. In fact they were astonished when I told them Saints had signed him. He lost his starting place around the mid-season break last year and was a bit part player from then on. For context, VfB were bottom of the league for most of the season, surviving only by winning their final three games, (of which Romeu played a total of 2 minutes). Don't want to sound overly negative (especially in my first ever post!) just giving an honest appraisal of his form for Stuttgart last season. He clearly has pedigree from earlier in his career, and I'll be delighted if he can prove my VfB supporting colleagues wrong.
