  1. Oh yes, forgot about him. Jukovic ??
  2. Alongside Ali Dia as the shortest PL appearance?
  3. Grimsby seem to have quite a lively set of away fans. I was at Stockport County v Grimsby earlier in the season. They brought a big and noisy away following. In the first half it all kicked off in the away end when the stewards seemed to be trying to remove a couple of lads. This prompted loads of their mates to wade in, along with more stewards and police. Fists were certainly flying - more so than in Block 35/36 when the Toon fans celebrated their goal. Probably 15-20 of them were then hauled away. Be amazed if a few bans didn't get dished out as a result. Afterwards as I was walking to my local for a couple, there were loads of boisterous Grimsby around, celebrating their win. To be fair it livened up an otherwise pretty dull first half.
  4. Apparently he pissed off the Forest fans when he was at Luton last season
  5. In 1940, the people of Britain rallied behind Churchill, and supported his government throughout the war. In 1945 they voted him out in the biggest landslide Labour ever received. A fact that Johnson will be only too aware of, having written an appallingly researched biography of Churchill, full of factual errors about his hero.
  6. In a sane world, Martin Lewis would get Richard Branson's "Sir", and Branson would pay back all the millions he got by suing the NHS, and the other millions he avoids in tax. Beardy C***.
  7. Very much hoping for this. If Engels plays, he'll get top Marx from me. It would be just Kapital if he does play, as he's got more errors in him than Vestergaard.
  8. I'm really not bothered about his sexuality, or anyone else's for that matter. It's entirely up to him. Surprised he's made such a big deal about it. "Man who works in TV is gay" isn't really a big shock these days. Was he in denial about it for many years? I always assumed he was anyway, just seemed to come over that way.
  9. That goal was similar to, and nearly as enjoyable to watch as Shane Longs at Anfield. I'd hope it would win MOTD goal of the month, but not sure it's eligible scored in the Cup.
  10. I never heard this before. It makes sense though, and explains why I often find it a bit cramped at SMS if I'm in a sitting section.
  11. great report, full of cynical realism. my fave line: "Liverpool have selected Kevin Friend to referee the game, a first choice appointment for them since the pre-Klopp days"
  12. That was my thinking too. Didn't even know it was an appeal for a backpass until I saw it on Twitter on the train home. Thought they were appealing for a corner at the time. Looking at how close to the goal the indirect free kick would have been, it would indeed have been very difficult for him to oversee. Plus it was right in front of the Kop, and his brown envelope had an extra bundle of 20s in it this week. Has there ever been an indirect freekick that close to the goal (about 2 yards or less)? I cant think that I've ever seen that happen. The defenders would have been allowed to stand on the goal line, so the 10 yards rule wouldn't apply. The best bet for us would have been to treat it like a short corner in hockey, where they play it back to someone on the edge of the box to leather it in. You could actually have played it to the penalty spot as the defenders couldn't stand there as they'd be within 10 yards. Edit - just looked this up and according to Wikipedia: "In 1984, it was specified that an indirect free kick awarded for an offence within within the opposing team's goal area should be taken at the closest point on the six-yard (5.5 m) line. This change was made in order to avoid "crowding" and "jostling". So it would have been on the corner of the 6 yard box. Still with defenders allowed to stand on the goal line. Still think Friend is corrupt.
  13. Shrewsbury away. New ground for me, and most people I'd guess.
  14. Last poll I saw (post-election) had Swinson with a lower positive approval rating than Corbyn. How did she manage to be even more unpopular than JC, given that he had 4 years of attacks from most of the press, she was only leader for about 6 months, and was a minor target compared to Jezza. I suspect the answer is a combination of the Revoke policy rather than Labour's PV/2nd Ref and her somewhat abrasive style.
  15. That was an excellent read, highlights were the descriptions of Rupert Lowe and Nicola Cortese. I'd definitely read the book if/when he writes it.
