  1. To the Sweet Caroline tune ( and I’ll retire to my bunker to await the incoming rocks 😳) Where it began, was down to Russell Martin And now we know it's growing strong We didn’t believe But time relieved our doubting Who'd have believed you'd prove us wrong Goals, scoring goals Reaching out, touching me, touching you Sweet Saints of mine Good times never felt so good I've been inclined To believe we never would But now we Look at the points and it don't seem so lonely We’re going to make it to the top And when I hurt Hurting runs off my shoulders How can I hurt when supporting you Goals, scoring goals Reaching out, touching me, touching you Sweet Saints of mine Good times never felt so good.
  2. Well I’m pretty pleased. In the family end with 2 grandchildren. £514 for all of us - works out under £23 per game in total for all 3. I was thinking of not renewing but at a divided up £7.50 per head it won’t matter so much if games are missed for whatever reason. (And this year that’s been mainly down to the rubbish we’ve had to endure). The only bright light at the end of what’s been a long black tunnel.
  3. I’m angry too, apart from the dire football, the lack of any direction from anyone supposedly managing on or off field operations and the impossibility of competing on any kind of level playing field with the teams owned by dubious states and consortiums, we are in danger of losing the youngsters who should be our supporters longer term. One home league win all season, I think only 6 last season. I’m fed up with taking my grandchildren who see mediocre talent play mediocre football week in and out and now say they don’t want to come next season because it’s no fun anymore. it’s no good me telling them the Championship and League 1 days were exciting and getting promoted was brilliant. They want, rightly or wrongly to see the big Premier League stars, to cheer on Southampton players they can identify with not some stepping stone young talent who know that all Saints can give them is the opportunity to move on to bigger and better things. Me? I’ve only missed one season as a season ticket holder in the last 28 years but I’m not that inclined to continue to be treated as a consumer of a poor product rather than a fan whose support is wanted. I’m fed up with having to alter plans so I can attend rearranged games at unsuitable times for the greater glory of Sky and BT. I’m angry that losing a football match can lower my mood for the whole weekend. I’m pissed off that I continue to care when the players don’t and stupidly continue to hope when it’s a lost cause. But I also know if I don’t renew come the first match of next season I’ll be wishing I had.
  4. That interview was very bizarre. He sounds like a man who has totally lost the plot and is grabbing at straws to justify his existence as our manager and to explain why this team doesn’t perform. I honestly think someone at the Club needs to sit down with him and ask him If he needs help from a mental health point of view.
  5. Just home now. I’m usually an optimist but we are a completely useless club from top to bottom. Not sure any player has the right to call themselves a professional footballer- can’t defend, can’t attack, can’t win a second ball, can’t score. Jones is not up to the job and neither are the owners. I thought the crowd could have been far more vocal in showing their displeasure tonight - I think we’ve all sunk into a pit of depression. I’m surprised they don’t play the Benny Hill tune all through the match - it’s made for headless chickens running about. And don’t get me started on the light show.
  6. That’s because it’s not a man’s game any more after this summer 🤣🤣
  7. Just back. Had been hoping for a good result as have written off our last home game so was keen to see something to reassure me I was right to renew our season tickets! Stupid me. Why do I always have this forlorn hope that things will improve?
  8. I remember Len when he was a groundsman at the Sports Centre I think. Pretty certain he lived in Malvern Road and I used to see him in the garden sometimes on my way to and from school.
  9. My grainy memory seems to recall midweek sports specials in the 1970’s where either highlights or full matches were shown on tv. I think it was an FA cup replay against Chelsea which we won circa 1975(?). We were buzzing after seeing the match or highlights and decided to expend some energy at Fridays night club. Within hours Channon and possibly Osgood were propping up the bar there being bought pints by all and sundry. Wouldn’t happen now I guess. I loved the Pink too - used to queue up for it from 6 and relive the match on Saturdays in the pub afterwards.
  10. It’s streaming live on the BBC website
  11. Well I did phone Ticket Office and was told the seats were mine and to continue sitting there. I asked what I should do if stewards queried it again and was told to contact Ticket Office by email?!?!?! Errr what is the point of me just having phoned you then? Goodbye customer service - hello mediocrity.
  12. Ticketing still a shambles. Long story but 1st season I moved from Itchen to Family centre bought 3 season tickets in chosen seats so could take grand children. Week before season kicked off got phone call saying would I move as family who used to have those seats had reconsidered and wanted to buy them again. Being a good natured person I agreed to move if I could have similar seats. Fine no problem and for that season and next we sat in our new seats or didn’t due to lockdown. This season I couldn’t renew online for some reason so phoned ticket office. Apparently the seats they’d given us weren’t actually in the family centre but the next block along and they wouldn’t let me renew unless I paid the full price. Wasn’t having that so moved again but was now offered front row near corner flag. Missed Man U game as kids tickets arrived but mine didn’t and nor did the electronic one I’d been promised so West Ham was first visit. Got to seats - they’re marked Reserved! We sat in them anyway. Then steward asks to see our tickets- they match the seats but apparently these seats are reserved for staff so we shouldn’t be sat there. Eventually stayed in the seats for the match but were told to contact Ticket Office to be moved. Can’t blame this one on outsourcing the season tickets, this one is definitely down to the ticket office but it’s just one more irritation that adds to the general dissatisfaction with the off field club management. Who knows where we will be sat for the Wolves game!
  13. Season ticket finally arrived today.
