  1. I heard some of him doing the Bournemouth v Man City game for 5 live and he was very good
  2. I'm not saying we will finish in the top 2, but the trick is to stay in touch until the final 5 or 6 games, and then it's the teams that can handle the pressure best. It might be us Leicester and Ipswich look as wobbly as us.
  3. I'd like to see us play in a playoff final at Wembley. I've seen us in an FA cup final, a Charity Shield, 2 League Cup finals, a semi final, JP trophy and that other thing when we played Forest but a play off final would be a new experience, another one to tick off the list, and if we won it would probably be the nearest thing to a cup final win that we are likely to see.
  4. No, its down to us. If we keep winning we'll stay in the top 2. If we don't 2 of our 3 competitors will be above us,in all liklihood.
  5. It doesn't really matter because if Saints don't keep winning Ipswich will end above us as well as Leeds or Leicester. We can't expect 2 out of the 3 to drop many points.
  6. I watched the Arsenal game and he hardly got a kick. They are definitely not getting the best out of him. He would do much better with our passing game under Russ.
  7. Who knows ? Leicester have been going along untroubled with no pressure. 2 defeats in a row and they might start to feel the heat. 2 defeats can lead to 4 you know. Leeds look unstoppable at the moment with their improved away form but so did Saints until Bristol. Ipswich look over their bad spell. As for the play offs I'd have bitten your hand off before the season started to be a shoe in with 14 games to go. If we got to the final it would be a new experience. A good one or not I'll tell you after.
  8. Whatever happens we have to keep winning. One of our 3 competitors might lose a bit of form but I don't think 2 will.
  9. You're very unlikely to see the the like of it again. If you're young savor it and take it in because even if Saints go on to conquer Europe in the future you will always remember the time when Saints went 24 (and counting) games undefeated. If you're old and grumpy like me just enjoy it because this could be as good as it gets for us.
  10. The second half was a real treat, and I feel sorry for those that missed it. I haven't seen such prodigious young talent since the days of Tiss, Shearer, the Wallace brothers, Dodd and Benali. Russell Martin is sitting on a gold mine. Oh and that team beat Liverpool 4-1
  11. Difficult, but if we win our game in hand and at Leicester it's only another 6 points , which is achievable
  12. I don't know the views of most footballers on anything but football. They may all be cranks. I know Terry Paine was a Tory but I don't hold that against him too much. I go on how they played when I rate them as footballers and Matt was certainly our most entertaining player. On a good day, and there were many, he was our best on a bad day and there were a few, one of our worst.
  13. They might move to the seated area of the Northam. I don't know if they would improve the atmosphere there.
  14. In my view the success of this depends on the unexpected consequences of trying to engineer an enthusiastic home end. Most fans, season ticket holders at least, sit or stand where they do because they prefer the view and atmosphere around them be that loud or not so loud. Many fans in the Chapel may not bear to be next to the away fans and might migrate to a similar view but at the Northam end, not whats intended. Some of our more enthusiastic fans might not, for whatever reason bear to be anywhere but next to the away fans. Supporters along the side might prefer the view from where they are, so there could be a problem actually filling the Northam with the type of fan intended. In fact (as happened at the Dell) the Chapel could become more of a singing end than the Northam. In fact over 23 seasons there has been little appetite to create a singing area anywhere other than near the away supporters . I would also add that wherever they are, the away supporters will be loud as that is the nature of away support. I wish the scheme success but there obstacles that need to be confronted and overcome.
  15. Watching a winning team in whichever league is better and lets face it Saints spend most of the time in the lower half of the Premier league. Still beating the likes of Man City or Utd or Liverpool feels better than any win in the Championship (unless its the one that wins promotion)
