If you watch the Sky highlights, the very last ball goes through to the keeper who runs up and smashes the wicket. He then sees the Lancs batter turning to run back down the wicket, so the keeper runs the length of the wicket, smashes those stumps and gently lobs the ball to the umpire. End of game. The only complaint Lancs could have is whether or not the Hants fielders were in the same fielding positions for the retaken No Ball but the umpires were happy at the time. And in any case Lancs should have been punished earlier for not having the correct amount of fielders in the circle during Hants innings. Sore losers!
  2. That’s a really good point. You would have thought they would have been keen to talk about the improvements to the seating at the fans forum - after all they have stressed to us in the letter just how much it will Improve the “match day experience” by having padded seats! And yet they didn’t even feel the need to mention it until after the last home game of the season - to avoid any group opposition to their plans - despite the fact this plan would have been in place for quite some time. I agree with you - a pathetic and cowardly move from the club. Like others have said before, I will not be renewing in Block 31 or anywhere else for that matter.
  3. They do not want us to renew within Block 31. They want to clear us all out of the way so more corporates can take the seats.
  4. For those of you who this directly affects, I emailed the club and I received the following response which was sent to me “personally” - but which is the same response sent to someone else I know in Block 31. Clearly they didn’t even bother to read my email. Many thanks for your email to our Director of Sales Anthony Cole-Johnson who has read your comments and requested that I respond. We appreciate the subject of the letter was highly emotive, and you can be rest assured we don’t take these decisions lightly, especially at a time when more than ever, having fans away has been sorely missed, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back.As we shared before, we have recently committed to several stadium improvements over the Summer, some of which we have already started, such as the new scoreboard project, and a number of further initiatives that will genuinely improve the whole fan experience, and environment around St Mary’s which we will announce nearer to the close season. We have over several seasons been proud to freeze the price of general admission season tickets, whilst extending concessional rates up to 25-year-olds, and to all those fans aged over 65 where previously they were not offered. In real terms, we have reduced for many the cost of coming to football at St Mary’s over the years, and have tried to be more accessible than ever, hence the £399 season ticket in the Chapel, and a £19 ticket seasonally in the Family Stand for U11s. The introduction of the “Kingsland Plus” season ticket is designed to offer an enhanced general admission experience for those wishing to choose something different from our usual hospitality offer, but still a better more comfortable seat than the standard seat in the stadium; indeed, we have priced it fairly to similar seats at other Premier League clubs. The adult pricing structure of £999 is applicable to renewing season ticket holders only, with concessions priced at £929 for those aged under 25 and over 65- we didn’t make that clear in the first letter so our apologies. Additionally, those wishing to take advantage of a Gasworks membership can do so for just £29 (normally priced at £99), which works out at just over £1.50 per league fixture. As mentioned in the letter, a seat has been reserved for you within Block 31 of the Kingsland Stand as we do hope this new seat works for you. If you feel, after reflection, this option isn’t for you, we will assist you in working out alternative options in Blocks 30 and 32 where the adult renewal price is £737 and £660 for concessions, or of course other areas such as the Chapel.Rest assured, we have given absolute priority for current Kingsland Plus seat holders to move to either Blocks 30 and 32 if the new seat doesn’t work for you, and we can help to assist anyone wishing to relocate. Should you wish to move to a different block or discuss this further, please contact our ticket office on 02381 780 780 from 3pm on Tuesday 25 May.Alternatively, we can arrange for a member of the team to contact you directly. And finally, we wanted you to know that we took the decision to write to you personally to be open and transparent as to what we are doing and why. Though in this instance we may not be agreeable, we felt it proper to inform those fans affected by the change prior to the wider release to give you the time as we know it’s a big decision. Should you require anything further our ticketing team will be happy to assist.Thank you for taking the time to contact us, and we genuinely hope that we can welcome back to St Mary’s soon.Kind regards,JimJim GaySupporter Services ManagerSouthampton FCT: 02380 711980 Make of it what you will - but I’m not sure that Marcus would have been too happy to throw long standing loyal supporters under the bus!
  5. And the announcement timed just after the last home game of the season, so no fans can show their objection in the stadium - and the letters sent out to arrive on a Saturday, again so no one can speak to the club - and I’m told the ticket office is closed this week so again, no one can be contacted. They know exactly what they are doing. Cowards.
  6. MLG - why do you feel the puerile need to drag every single thread down to your pathetic points scoring level. It’s so tedious. Anyway, how about giving some thought to those of us who over 20 years have built up friendships with people we had never previously met before but who we have Saints in common but are being forced to either pay an exorbitant price to stay where we are, or move.
  7. I’ve had the same letter. Pretty appalling customer relations to tell someone who has had a ST there since the stadium opened (20 years) to take it or leave it! An extra £250 a year to have a cushioned seat FFS. The seats certainly can’t be any wider. We chose the seats right on the halfway line and been paying the premium to do so ever since. And now told to cough up or they will helpfully find us other seats in the stadium. And this at a time when they are desperate to get people back. This sort of callous behaviour by the club won’t do much to deter some of us from not bothering anymore.
  8. Hi We are staying at St Juliens ( I think!) and can easily get into Valletta. You obviously know the area? I know there is a Maltese Saints “group” but don’t have any contact details. Any help is greatly appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I’m over in Malta for a week including the Spurs away game. Any Malta Saints known which is the pub with the best chance of showing the game? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Before the game a lot of people in the pub were singing "we've got Van Dijk, Virgil Van Dijk, we just don't want u anymore." When it looked like he was coming on as sub today a fair few people started it - but quite a few started singing the versions we all know. Either way it petered out to nothing. There was some booing when he came on but probably not so much that he would notice. Whatever he has done I can't boo him. I just can't boo a Saints player whoever he is. At the end of the game he sort of walked toward us and waved - but didn't come close enough. I think he looked a bit embarrassed and was probably advised not to come too close!! I didn't get the impression of that much hatred toward him. Probably more ambivalence. But there are a lot of unhappy people in our fan base and I reckon he needs to make an apology pretty soon before he begins to get any support from us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. The Mighty Quo And we love him, we love him, We love him, we love him, We la la la love him, La la la love Score a Goal Manolo Gabi a Dini!!
  12. Fair play to CB Fry - the same superiority complex for years on end - literally years and years - and he actually believes he is intellectually above the rest of us. What condescending routine do you think he's got planned for next summer and next season? Can anyone possibly guess? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. After the game Koeman said he didn't want to risk Toby as he had a slight problem with his hamstring. Not playing him therefore limited his options at the back and so couldn't play a back three. We definitely need Clyne back for Man U. Either in a back four or three with wingbacks. 14. A good read - except for one bit:- "Without doubt he would flounder in today's game..." Imagine him in Saints current line up - he would still shine!! A good article but IMO he has got that very wrong.
