A Good Read indeed! Thought I might add my piece. The Saints influence always present it seems. Grandfather was Vice President of So'ton FA Council in 1932 and father played for the Saints Schoolboys about 1920. Father took me to my first match some time in 1946, around Christmas time I think. Names like Ramsey, Rochford, Webber, Day, Bates come to mind. Was away at boarding school but visited the Dell when home on holiday. Spent my life roaming the world and kept in touch through the BBC and the dulcet tones of John Arlott, Raymond Gledining etc. Looking to be 77 in a couple of months and live in Cheshire but can still kick a ball with the grandchildren!
