  1. Selles is finding out how tough his job is......
  2. That was awful. In and out of possession was a shambles. We knew who and how they were going to play and we have been wide open. 5 atb and giving momentum from the kick off with 55,000 geordies behind them when we're 1 nil down!! We just havent been coached. I now understand what his 'aggression and front footed' means....run blindly around, leaving huge gaps with no structure at all. We can expect more for all the time he has had with them
  3. We're a poor side playing a poor brand of football. Positives- Alcaraz had a promising debut, JWP, KWP did well, Arma made an impact when he came on. Dare i say it but i thought Diallo was okay defensively (albeit wasteful offensively). The players attitude was good, they were clearly trying for the shirt. Negatives- simply we have too many players who are just not up to it. For example, Djenepo was dreadful, Lyanco was an accident waiting to happen. Adams...another big chance. Players like these and others we have would simply not get in another premier league side. Its a good job that Jones is a successful championship manager because we play like one. We are obviously asked to get the ball forward quickly and dont prioritise possession which is fine if you do it with quality. We dont, which creates a highly transitional, chaotic game. Probably the reason why our back 4 were all booked and got red card as we're always scrambling as we have no control. We're always under pressure because we have no controlled possession. No other teams in the premier league are successful playing this way. Our pressing isnt co-ordinated and is ineffective. No patterns going forward other than long balls and diagonals and hoping for a 2nd ball by being 'aggressive'. We're a mess in transition offensively and defensively and thats down to coaching. Look at the impact other new managers have made given similar amounts of time (tbf they have better squads to work with) Jones said how good we were, well i guess he has to but i didnt see any evidence of that tonight. Didnt expect to win tonight but more concerning to me is that i have no hope that we will be successful in the prem playing like this.
  4. It would be really good if we can get these lads out with Championship teams for the season. It seems strange to me to expect young lads who have played hardly any senior football to come into a premier league first team and make an impact. You have to be a very good prospect to make that work e.g. Bale, Walcott, Shaw, Oxlade Chamberlain etc. Harrison Reed seems to have benefitted from that process. Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Harry Wilson, Conor Callagher, Rhian Brewster all seem to have benefitted. If we can’t place our best young players with Championship teams then can we honestly say they are good enough for our first team?
  5. This is more like it!! probably total nonsense with a crumb of truth. Saintsweb at its best!!
  6. Remember when this thread was about transfers/ transfer rumours where you would maybe get a little inside track on potential signings. It’s was all bollix of course and instinctively we would know that but I think I preferred that to the dross we have now.....
  7. Osian Roberts please......did a brilliant job with Wales over a long time . Currently with Morocco? (huge waste) And you’ re right it won’t happen
  8. Harrison Reed was Sky’s man of the match yesterday for Fulham He was very impressive in holding midfield role
  9. Mate, grow up! It’s a game of football not game of thrones
  10. We’re not going to do this (but hey it’s a forum!! ). How about thinking about this differently and deploying Romeu as a sweeper. Tall, good on the ball, leadership, positional sense. Bednarek, Romeu, Danso as a back 3.
