I remember that there were padded seats, a very impressive stadium, an eerie atmosphere because it was barely a quarter full and that the team did not turn up. I have not often experienced that feeling since. I was at Orient in 1966, Fulham in 1978(?) and St Marys yesterday to see Saints clinch promotion to the top level. Curiously enough, as far as I can remember, I was far more nervous this time, maybe because on the other two occassions they were the penultimate matches of the season. However, once the 3rd went in I relaxed and it was fantastic that 32,000 Saints fans were there to see it. These are the days you want to have been there.
