  1. 'Ras-mus, you're a wanker son' to the 'Go West' tune
  2. Niemi better than Flowers - guess Flowers was at an earlier stage of his career But Shilton miles better than either
  3. We went to the Brownswood on Green Lanes a couple of years ago - that was ok The Faltering Full Back is a good pub (I also live in the vicinity) but not sure what it’s like on match days Both 20 mins walk from the ground
  4. Damn - thanks anyway - I’ve emailed them and will call tomorrow. By post it’ll never reach SMS then to me in London by Wednesday
  5. The spare wasn’t block 115 row 24 was it? I’ve ordered two and received one
  6. Top night - good to meet you guys. I'm usually on http://www.sotonians.com/ (same user name) - as the moderators tend to keep the ****tery to a minimum over there (unless the ****s don't know about it - oops) - and we often meet in the Rockstone before home games Let me know if there's a London meet going on next season - in the Premier League! Keith
  7. Try Andrew Murray on 07702 588275 or email andrew.murray927@ntlworld.com.
  8. Is Topley actually playing in the proper stuff? Thought he was playing 50 over and T20 only?
  9. More like a sixth in six! Jaidi, Hooiveld, Yoshida, Lovren, Alderweireld, ?????
  10. Barry Horne v Bolton in the FA Cup Nick Holmes v Watford in the league cup from his own half (that tie didn't turn out too well)
  11. I've been a member on here since 2007 and I've got less than 200 posts apparently, most of them probably on the Hampshire cricket thread. So why haven't I - and I suspect a fair few others - been regular posters? The attempt to create a bit of a different tone on Sotonians has been derided above. But to me it's like choosing a regular pub - you avoid the ones with the aggressive boring people (well I do). The tone of the place matters Now on one level, yes, yes, it's only the internet. But I come across dickheads all day - at work, in pubs, on the train. I don't want to waste my precious time dealing with any more. Too many on this site are the sort of people I'd avoid in real life. I find it strange, a bit sad, and often mighty annoying that somebody would 'talk' to me on the web in a manner that would prompt me to say 'ok, watch your tone' in a face-to-face conversation. Disagree by all means - but speak to me as if I'm standing in front of you and keep it civil. Next - those of us who have had young children have undoubtedly seen enough of the 'did!/didn't!' argument. It's not appropriate for adults. If you find that a conversation is heading that way then take it somewhere else - the rest of us don't care. And wind-ups? trolling? generally being deliberately annoying? Best left to the 13-year old boys who find that funny (unless you are one – in which case, sorry - son, you’ll grow out of it) I'm glad this site is here. I think the people that run it mostly do a good job. But I often find myself wishing I could join a debate in an adult environment. Somebody asked me to register on Sotonians. I'm not privy to the debates about who got banned on here and what for, and I’m not that bothered really. But so far (aware it might not last) it feels a nicer place.
  12. Long may it stay that way! - although Vince now picked for England T20 next week. We must be the best T20 team ove the last few years - Adams, Carberry, Vince & Ervine all attacking batsmen by nature, Wood & Briggs give little away (& Dimi when he was here), we had a stoke of luck with Will Smith's bowling - and the overseas signings have most come off - McKenzie excellent, Maxwell we got from local club cricket! Yasir Arafat looks good this year too Would be nice to have a decent championship team though!
  13. I think Somerset are much more likely to be in the relegation mire than Notts though, so we could have done with them losing that

    Drink?

At the risk of labouring the point I agree with the sentiments above - sunshine, a 6-1 win and several beers with pleasant company in a nice pub. And a chat on the train back - thanks Bucks. Would be very happy to do that again next season. It's also good to know that the forum isn't just populated by internet warriors and children. Some threads have made me wonder! If anyone London-based fancies catching up for a few beers over the summer let me know
  15. Agree totally. Cruyff was the absolute best as a player and repeated that as a manager. I was lucky enough to see that Barca 'dream team' pretty regularly (girlfriend teaching TEFL in Barcelona) including the Champions League win at Wembley (RK winning goal from a long range free-kick in extra time) and a fair number have gone on to be successful coaches, including Michael Laudrup and, of course, Pep Guardiola The thing that set Cruyff apart was intelligence. Even now, when you see him interviewed he talks sense every time. Rare in football
