  1. Think the club are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Fact is the atmosphere at SMS is directly proportional to the teams performance and ultimately whether we’re winning some games, preferably more than losing. The last season in the Prem was just agonisingly shit and one I didn’t enjoy one bit thanks for the most part to a terrible atmosphere in the stadium not helped by away supporters decimating the most vocal part of the home support. It’s improved a bit this season admittedly, but the aspiration is to get back to the Prem when a higher number of away fans will attend typically. Whether these changes help to rectify the issue is really up to our vocal Saints supporters. It will interesting to see if it makes a difference, but I’m not expecting big changes in week one…this will be a slow burn…perhaps even generational.
  2. Unfortunately that’s almost correct. Think we’ll either draw or win this one, but the Leicester game will be the one we choke on. Horrible nasty cynical side that has that twat Tardy playing for them. The thing I’m concerned about playing our direct promo rivals is that they're able to deliberately nobble our players to screw our chances of putting a consistent team/run together. Need to be hard and ruthless in return without giving away silly cards.
  3. Great game, well first half anyway. The dream is still alive!
  4. Yes agreed - the whole premise of “don’t lose” is an irrelevance really…got to go for it in each of these last few games with literally nothing to lose. However, my advice to RM would be to ensure there’s enough flex in formation to ensure midfield is not overrun or defenders left stranded. I don’t think there would be any point trying to convince him to drop the ‘pass and move’ or ‘false-fullback’ stuff he’s committed to.
  5. Got a ticket for this one - didn’t expect it to have the level of significance it has to be fair. It’s going to be a difficult one again without a doubt, so let’s hope RM finally learns how to read the game and flex the team shape in midfield if we go two up. I’d stick with Brookes and start Fraser over Stu perhaps, but we’ll need Adams up top. It’s not going to happen, but I’d drop Stephens or Bednarek rather than play the two of them…two proper full backs please and preferably KWP / Bree in their usual positions. 2-0 hopefully, but think 2-2 more likely.
  6. Missus arranged a day out shopping in Oxford so I had to suffer watching the game on the phone in pub with the dog, a pint and a packet of crisps. Apologies to the few others in the bar for the outburst in the 98th minute. Fantastic to win a game at the death like that…let’s face it, any other clubs supporters would love to do the same to us. I can see why Martin is choosing the starters…generally you would expect the experience of Brookes and Che for example to perform in a more composed manner. Can’t really excuse Bazunu once again for letting in a soft long shot…just poor. By contrast their keeper made a worldly just at the right time. Anyway…top two dream still alive. Beat PNE on Tuesday and things will really start to heat up.
  7. I don’t think he’s conditioned to be a box to box midfielder which is essentially what he’d been asked to do.
  8. Think it was more the case that he was fading in the second half for me - made a few wayward passes.
  9. Have Leicester lost yet? Have Leeds drawn?
  10. Bree has had a good game. I like the guy - he gets scraps but always shows up
  11. Mara is sooo slow and weak. Shite!
  12. We’re pussying around at the back far too much now. Urgency has just evaporated it seems.
