  1. The quietest I’ve ever heard a football stadium after that equaliser....
  2. Burnley home. Was clear that lessons were not being learned.
  3. I was there. Also Upper East Centre (agree about the view - couldn’t get better). The noise when MLT scored was immense. Got him to sign my shirt after- despite being 24 at the time! Amazing day, still difficult to truly imagine that that place is no longer there (provided you don’t go down Milton Road or Archers Road very often - living in Manchester helps with that)
  4. Have you forgotten 1992 and 2010?
  5. Both Pelle and Mane do have a history of scoring a decent amount of goals a season. Mane scored 45 goals in 87 games during his time at Salzberg. Pelle got 50 in 57 games at Feyenoord and (I think) got 18 for us last year, none of which is shabby. That doesn't change the fact that I think we need another striker, I would go for Austin if it was up to me.
  6. I think this would be a good thing if true. Yes, we are in a bad run of results but you don't become a bad manager overnight and performances have been frustrating (because we haven't converted dominance into goals and individual errors from experienced players) rather than bad. It's about time we took a long term approach, for me 12th this year, Koeman signed up and a squad refresh in the summer would be a decent outcome from where we are now.
  7. Definitely Draper Tools in 1985. Took over from Air Florida at the start of the 84/85 season, the last year we played in the red and white Patrick kit. The season after that was the Centenary Year with the red Patrick kit. Rank Xerox's final season was 82/83. Never seen a Saints shirt with Epsom on it, though
  8. Lots of stories about us scoring 52 out of 55 PL penalities. Who are the three who have missed for us in the Premier League? Tadic is one, clearly, can't remember Beattie missing one, so I would guess Magilton and maybe Dodd are the other two? Of course we had a number of misses in the Football League years, even excluding the Derby shootout, Billy Sharp and Quashie are two which spring to mind.
  9. Just got back - was behind enemy lines in the Stoke end so had to be on my best behaviour. Missed the first 15 mins, and Graziano's apparent wonder goal due to appalling traffic on the M6. A few thoughts: Firstly great away attendance - to get over 2000 there tonight was amazing and was a great sight and sound from where I was sat in the main stand. However, best to save the "ole"s and "we want 8"s until after half time and certainly until after the game is won - just tempting fate Pretty much an orthodox 442 there tonight (or at best 4411). Not seen that for a couple of years. Worked well initially, but thought we needed to change it as the second half wore on, as they started to control the midfield. Second half we suffered either from complacency or fatigue - looked more like the former to me, as if we felt the game would just happen for us, casual in defence, casual in front of goal and ragged in midfield - we allowed Stoke back into a game which should have been dead and buried. Not seen anything of Forster yet to suggest he is a step up from Boruc, not made any blunders as such but not seen a save from him that makes the difference. Unlike many on here, I thought Big Vic had a decent game, yes he gave the ball away in the last quarter of the game, but so did most of the others in midfield. Gardos showed promise, but after his mistake in giving the ball away (where Jose saved him) he looked short on confidence. Targett did very well, looked at home. Tadic though, what a player. Gets better each time I see him. Clearly tired towards the end, but some of his play in the first half was astonishing - enjoy it while he's here. You could tell that someone was going to get sent off, just surprised it was crouch and not Adam. All in all a satisfactory performance, sets up a semi final with Bournemouth nicely
  10. The loudest atmosphere at a match I can remember. Had my walkman radio on to get the scores from the other matches, turned up full, and couldn't hear it due to the noise of the crowd. Amazing. Also, arguably the most important game in our recent history - if we'd gone down, the chances are we wouldn't have SMS.
  11. Didn't Puncheon do something similar not so long back? And didn't Suarez kick up a fuss last summer. Very unprofessional, he is under contract and if anyone is trying to "destroy" anything or change anything, it is him. If Morgan didn't want to be held to staying for 4 years, he shouldn't have signed his lucrative 4 year contract. Same with Jay. Simple. No sympathy whatsoever. The contract means if the club consider it in their best interests to stay, they stay and they play and they get paid for doing it. Can see this ending in the same way as Suarez last summer, with MS signing an even more lucrative new deal in the next couple of weeks, which would be great PR for club as it has mended the relationship, MS has bought into RK's vision, etc etc, but with a £20m release clause in it, which means he will be off next summer when the heat is off.
  12. This article on Koeman (posted a couple of pages back) is a more insightful view than the wiki entry http://www.benefoot.net/koeman-gave-feyenoord-its-pride-back/
  13. You should know by now that there are no grey areas on the internet and no room for nuances or reason - it is a purely binary world, where opinion is stated as FACT and that is that.
  14. Or they could do a Stockport and drop down another level. And a potential derby with Eastleigh. Relegation for me every time (and also got £5 at 40/1)
