  1. If you ever meet Mark Lawrenson, mention Robin Friday, and watch his face! From Wiki, not the most reliable of sources I know, but if he did take a dump in Lawro's kit bag then bravo sir! "Friday was marked during the game by Mark Lawrenson, who so frustrated the Cardiff forward with his close attention that Friday waited for Lawrenson to attempt a slide tackle and then kicked him in the face. After receiving a red card, Friday left the ground with the game still going on; according to legend, before leaving he broke into the Brighton dressing room and defecated in Lawrenson's kit bag."

  3. "If this was a boxing match they'd have won on points" is one that usually gets me throwing things at the TV. Also, "He rolled him there..." Rolled him in what, flour? Just say he turned him, although not a great alternative it's better than "rolled him" FFS!

  5. They've found a fiver down the back of the sofa?
  6. Compound words. Chunnel was the first one I remember when the Channel Tunnel was being built. Now we have mizzle, guesstimate and there is a special place reserved in hell for those people who use the compound word, staycation. I think people who use compound words are funts! Also Americanisms that are creeping in to the English language, such as 'moving forward' 'touching base' 'take a rain check' etc. Oh and 'Team GB' got on my nerves during last years Olympics.
  7. Mike Newell of Everton, scored at the Dell with an 18 yard looping header over Neville Southall, early 90's I think?
  8. I hate compound words, the worst being "staycation", especially when used by TV presenters in this country, as we use the word holiday, not vacation, it is pretty stupid to use staycation to mean a holiday taken in your own country.
  9. If you subscribe to ESPN through Sky you get ESPN America, which shows at least 10 games per week!
  10. I've followed MLB since the mid-eighties when it was shown on Channel 4, there were a few barren years between them ending their coverage and Channel 5 picking it up in the mid-nineties and in those pre-internet days the only way I could keep in touch was to buy USA today in WH Smith a couple of times a week! I'm a Philadelphia Phillies fan due to the fact that they seemed to be the MLB version of the Saints with their red an white striped uniforms (okay pinstripes but close enough) the fact that at that point they'd only ever won a solitary World Series, and they have a loyal but demaning fan base like Saints. Plus being called the Phils sealed it for me!
  11. Notts County and Gillingham (both league cup ties) and possibly Bradford as I remember going to Valley Parade when they spent two seassons in the prem but cant remember going to the home games!
