If it hits him there, as it did, there's almost no way of knowing which direction that ball will deflect to.. I don't understand the way in which defenders turn sideways on to a shot, minimising the surface area that the ball could hit..

Yes, I'd keep Hoedt. Yes he sometimes plays like a pig on roller skates and drops the occasional clanger, but there's a half-decent centre back hidden in there and I'd keep him for another season to see if he can mature. I think he needs and experienced CB alongside who can bring the best out of him. Carillo on the other hand, there's something very dodgy about that signing IMHO.
