  1. It’s nonsense. Cultural appropriation has been going on as long as migration. I enjoy eating and making curries, so what? We are all human beings and we all interact and share experiences. When I was a kid everyone wanted a Mop Top cut to look like The Beatles and no mention the cultural appropriation from the Merseybeat scene. If you were white and supported a ‘fro because you liked black music why is that any different? If you are running a drama department in an inner London school, what do you do if you want to put on a production of Henry 1V part 1? Exclude half of your team because they do have not have the culturally appropriate skin colour? I just hope that any future actors who want a roll in a Tudor production take their family trees going back to the Middle Ages along to the auditions so that us viewers can rest easy in the knowledge that the cast is culturally authentic. 😉 It was mentioned earlier about Daniel Craig playing Nelson Mandela. His ethnicity was a central part of who and what he was as a character and shaped his life so no, I don’t think a white person should be playing that roll. A few black actors playing supporting roles in a dramatisation of an historical event from the Tudor era isn’t really comparable but if it upsets people, they don’t need to watch it. Where do you draw the line? You can’t play Shylock if you are not Jewish? One of the actors made a very valid point. She said it is not about her skin colour but what she could bring to the roll as an actor. I look forward to the day when we stop talking about what divides (some of) us and focus on what we share in common. Basic humanity.
  2. What is more concerning to you? The possible religion of a psycho 15 year old or the possible genocide we are witnessing in Gaza? If this boy is found to be a Muslim, does that mitigate the IDFs actions against tens of thousands of innocent civilians?
  3. TBF the point being made here is that some posters have an unhealthy obsession with immediately picking up wrong doing by Muslims whilst completely ignoring it when others do the same or similar. Batman being the main culprit. Who can forget his obsession with Asian rape gangs yet never a peep from him when white people were/are involved.
  4. Not only were the Sydney police quick to dispel any idea that the motive of the attack was extremist terrorism (if anything he was targeting women) but here is the kicker, the one male killed was security guard Faraz Tahir. Faraz was a Muslim immigrant from Pakistan. You won’t hear that from Batman though.
  5. Given Ducky’s usual behaviour in an ale house and the assumption that he packed the Snapdragon off to play with the sharks so that he could eye up the local Sheilas, I’m guessing 9 pints?
  6. This 100%. Barely a day goes by when someone hasn’t been stabbed to death in the UK but not a word from the usual suspects about domestic knife crime. Any hint that an Islamic terrorist has killed anyone though and they are all over it like a rash. We have all seen how these things play out. It doesn’t take much for a few random people to take matters into their own hands. Irrespective of the motive behind the murders in Sydney, it is quite likely that someone will be triggered by the events in the Middle East and we will see something similar again on the streets of the UK. If that thought isn’t depressing enough, the need to use these events to score points on social media says a lot about the society we live in.

    Israel

Probably because the government is scared of Putin but is happy to back Israel (despite their use of Western purchased weapons to kill thousands of innocent people and lay waste to Gaza) because they tar all Palestinians with the same Islamic extremism brush. Surely no moral ambiguity here?
  8. It was something else Batman. You must be gutted but maybe shed a few tears for the victims even though they weren’t killed by an Islamist terrorist eh.

What MO would that be? Calling out people who resort to throwing childish jibes around when tens of thousands of people have been and are being killed and maimed. Calling for an end to hostilities and the start of a process to find a lasting peace? There is nothing “hippyish” about wanting the death and destruction to end or for the efforts of all parties to be directed to finding long term solutions to long standing problems. Not only is it in the interests of the Israelis and Palestinians to stop killing each other, it is in the interests of the Middle East and everyone else for this to end. This has nothing to do with being a hippy and everything to do with being a normal, decent, rational human being. And if you are struggling with the concept, these people tend not to use laughing emojis under posts talking about loss of life or serious posts trying to address a serious situation as well as not using childish name calling to try and belittle serious posts.

And there were many people in Gaza who didn’t have a problem with Israelis but are now buried under rubble or are starving to death. Even for you that was an extremely stupid and crass response but then you have made it perfectly clear what you think about Muslims.

    Israel

The saddest thing is that there are vast amounts of Israelis and Palestinians who probably would be quite happy to live alongside each other but can’t because of their extremist nationalistic governments.

I mention “Jewish people” specifically because you specifically have said that anyone criticising “Jewish people” is antisemetic”. It really isn’t hard to understand unless you are being deliberately obtuse. No one is above criticism. So no slipping mask. Just a case of stating the obvious. *Your exact words were, “I call people who criticise Jews antisemitic”.

When you posted that it was antisemetic to criticise Jews. You seem to be the one with the problem and can’t help conflating my criticism of Netanyahu, his government (which is the Israeli government) and the actions of the IDF with a perceived idea that I hate Jewish people. I haven’t criticised anyone for their religion or race for that matter, just their conduct. As for your comment Batman/Delldays, given your posting history it is the height of hypocrisy to accuse someone else of overt racism. Shouldn’t you been trawling the internet looking for more Asian rape gangs?

Okay Ducky, it is time to put this nonsense to bed once and for all. 1. Aren’t you lucky that despite Hamas deliberately trying to kill you and the Snapdragon, you had the Iron Dome to protect you. 33,000 plus Palestinians weren’t quite so fortunate nor the tens of thousands who have been maimed. They will never get to enjoy another holiday if they ever had one before, but I am sure that doesn’t bother you at all, they are only Muslims after all. 2. Not once have I suggested that there is any “doubt” about who committed atrocities on 7th October. It was quite clearly Hamas and some other Islamic terrorist factions. What I did post was the report from the Israeli police that stated that the IDF were also responsible for the death of some Israelis and others due to their indiscriminate firing. This, note, was the finding of the Israeli police. Me posting their findings does not make me antisemitic to any normal, rational person. The actions of the IDF since 7th October have proved that they show absolutely no concern for innocent civilians when choosing targets. 3. This strange rationale that you have that everyone on the planet is open to criticism apart from Jewish people really is bizarre. By your logic a large majority of the planet are now antisemites because more and more people every day are calling out the actions of Netanyahu and his ultra nationalist government for what they are. Get your head around this. Jewish people are just as accountable for their actions as everyone else. 4. The people you so blindly defend are already under investigation for “plausible genocide”. Their staunchest allies tell them that they have gone too far. At some point even you are going to have to realise that by supporting monsters like Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir, it shows you up as having no moral compass and being just as bad as they are. 5. Most normal, rational people are sick to death of the way that the antisemetic card is played at every opportunity and is used as a get out of jail free card for actions that are just as heinous as those carried out on 7th October. There is no way that the actions of the IDF are proportionate and your constant defence of what has happened over the last 6 months displays a lack of humanity that is quite frankly disturbing. These people are human beings and no matter what you think of Muslims, they have exactly the same rights to life as the people you defend for committing what are clearly war crimes. 6. Netanyahu has managed to lose decades of goodwill that many had for Israel by his actions in Gaza and the West Bank. This has absolutely nothing to do with antisemitism and everything to do with people seeing this situation for what it is, an opportunity for the current Israeli government to crush the Palestinian people. 7. Go back and read what you said again. If you had been taken hostage while on holiday in Israel, the IDF would have had absolutely no problem in blasting you and your Snapdragon to bits. No more jolly holidays for two innocent holiday makers. (P.S. when the Islamic extremists were planning their attack on 7th October I doubt very much if they included deliberately targeting Lord Duckhunter and Lady Snapdragon. And if by some weird chance they did deliberately target you and your wife, why is that not okay when it is clearly ok to you that innocent Muslims are targeted?) 8. If there is a discussion about whether Jewish people are a race as well as followers of a religion, googling “are the Jews a race” does not make you antisemitic. It makes you inquisitive. 9. Because you have a basic hatred of certain parts of humanity along with a small number of other posters on here, it doesn’t follow that everybody else does. Not everyone is a bigot. 10. You and the small band here who clearly have issues with anything that you/they deem as remotely “woke” have been digging out people you see as “woke” for years. That includes me. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that “woke” people do not spend their time hating on minority groups, quite the opposite in fact. I think that you would be very hard pushed to find anyone you label as being “woke” as being an antisemite (in any normal, rational definition of the word, not by your skewed definition). To spell it out for you, you can’t be “woke” and a religious/racial bigot too. To spell it out even further, no one would describe you and the people with the same opinions as you as remotely “woke”. No one having read my posts over the years would describe me as being remotely like you and the small band of people who post like you. I will say this for one last time, it is entirely possible to hold a government to account for crimes and policies against humanity whilst not hating the people of that country as a whole, or their religion. It is entirely possible to be sickened by the activities of the IDF and also by the activities of Islamic extremists. It doesn’t make anyone an antisemite. It makes them human. It doesn’t make someone a hippy to want to see peace and stability in the Middle East, or anywhere else for that matter. It is called basic humanity and you should try and extend it to all of the victims of this conflict, not just those with whom you spent your jolly holiday with.
  15. My point is that it is all just story telling and humans character playing. I can’t recall but did we all kick off about this production three years ago? I am sure you are aware that various Shakespearean productions have been staged in more modern dress so your Kappa things falls flat by the way. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/anne-boleyn-jodie-turner-smith-motherhood-193329705.html#:~:text=And that starts with the,Anne%3A Jodie Turner-Smith. Also whilst on the subject, a black actress playing Juliet is causing distress amongst some… https://amp.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/national/article287419930.html And talking “logically” Ducky, surely it is down to the production team to present their material artistically in any way they chose?
