  1. Not sure what that Di Marzio article is saying with regards to Bruno Alves. He's 33 and plays for Fenerbahce, quality defender in his day, but both us and Atletico are probably better than him now. It sounds like there might be some complicated player swap deals trying to be made.

  2. I see him as a Pirlo type player. Both in his physicality, and the main attributes of his game (cracking set-pieces, good passing). But he obviously needs to work on his game more, his decision making needs to improve, as does his tempo in faster played games.

He kind of seemed lost in what position he wanted to play in last season, but hopefully under Koeman, he can reach the potential he quite clearly has.

  3. Latest from Corriere Dello Sport:

[h=2]Transfer Rome, Osvaldo towards Southampton[/h][h=3]The attacker has not been part of the expedition giallorossa in Terni: now it is next to its departure, destination Premier League. But his assignment does not solve the issue Lamela[/h] ROME - It is going to close the adventure of Osvaldo to Roma. Yesterday, the striker has not made part of the expedition giallorossa in Terni for the friendly with rossoverdi, Southampton is increasingly in the future of the attacker. Pochettino is doing everything possible to have him back after the adventure with Espanyol, and the challenge that continues for months by the fans romanista now definitively dismissed the player from Rome. In London Baldissoni and Sabatini have already closed the deal, more than 18 million bonus to the club and 3 million per season for 4 years all'italoargentino who wanted the Premier but would have preferred a landing directly to London, via Arsenal or Tottenham but have not aimed at him as have the red and white Hampshire. Today could be the announcement of the fateful yes. That, however, could be disconnected from the possible departure of Lamela, enticed by the four million per season from Tottenham own proposed: increasing engagement at the 'Coco' could be the solution to not be deprived, in Trigoria think about it.

  4. Aparently they don't need to keep some of that cash and have extra to spend! the figures he mentioned are in euro's not pounds.

'The money we got for Cavani was 64.5m and added to the 60m we had set aside for the transfer budget, there will be 124.5m to carefully invest on Napoli.'

Which is a completely amateur move on his part. Everyone will ramp up prices for players that Napoli are interested in.

  5. Too little, too late. They tried to screw over the one thing that makes them what they are: the consumers. Going back on it doesn't change that, it's the equivalent of someone holstering a gun after aiming it at your face, you still don't feel completely safe around that person. Luckily I think non-bias gamers will see the situation the same, and buy a PS4 anyway as its nearly £100 cheaper, and more powerful.

The price is usually 90% the deciding factor in the decision between Xbox and Playstation nowadays. They're basically the same console.

  6. Microsoft got destroyed by Sony last night. Completely suicidal for them to include the Kinect within the box, have much more restrictions on how to play the games, be technologically inferior and then cost £80 more.

    Sony rubbing it in

  7. I'm currently doing a project about Saints at Uni and would be really appreciative if some of you would take the time to complete my survey! It's about Consumption at St Marys and all that relates to it. It will take about 5 minutes from start to finish, and there are only 8 questions. Your answers can be as long as you want, though I would appreciate answers longer than a sentence :)

As you can see from my sign-up date for this site, I'm doing the project on something I love!

    Survey here

Once again, thank you if you fill it out, it really helps. :toppa:

  8. The clear quality of Bale, RVP, Scholes, Mata, and latterly Lukaku spring to mind....though i think those Man Utd players were let off a bit by too much respect, especially for Scholes...

Di Natale in pre-season for Udinese showed us what a lethal finisher is really like.

Demba Ba on his first game for Chelsea predictably ditto.

Incidentally, our poor preseason results and our poor start to the season: coincidence? Udinese are 6th in a weak Seria A this year and were behind us in physical preparation yet they dicked us 0-4 at a canter...

To be fair, two of Udinese's goals were un-saveable (video below if anyone wants to see them)

But yeah, I was talking to my dad about this the other day. Lukaku was easily the best/most effective player I've seen at St Marys.

I also thought Santi Cazorla for Arsenal had some quality moments in a poor performance from them here. The ball seemed glued to his foot sometimes.

  9. Talking about CBs, how s**t was Garcia?

Love the way Lambert did him twice for pace at the start of the second half -first resulting in the square ball to Punch and then Barry's calm side footed finished.

Garcia isn't a CB naturally. He usually plays defensive midfield.

Which made it baffling when Mancini took off Lescott, their only recognised CB

  10. Can someone clear up for me what position Reeves plays in? He has seemingly come in at left back when brought on in first-team league games, but I remember seeing him play against Millwall in the FA Cup last year and he played center midfield (attacking more than defending too) and now I read he scored two goals in the U21's yesterday, is he just a good utility player?
