  1. The problem with Tsunami's is that it's so difficult to predict impact...until landfall.... Better to be safe than sorry though!

Predicting a 6 foot wave for Hawaii last I heard, still could do a huge amount of damage though.

  2. The BBC is running a series of articles on this subject, representing all views. Here is today's offering:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12486153

I do take on board what the article says about the LibDems being the permanent 'kingmakers' - of course, it doesn't necessarily have to be the LibDems. It could be the BNP FFS!

My objection to AV is that small, insignificant parties could end up with a disporoportionate amount of power in the event of a hung parliament by prostituting themselves to one major party or another.

So, the current scenario then ;-)

I must admit I might well vote against AV as I actually want full PR, this half hearted attempt could well indeed be worse than FPTP. I guess I ought to read the artice....

  3. I like a load of American shows (The Walking Dead, Sopranos, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire etc) but IMO this documentary is when TV really adds something to your life and educates me about something which previously I knew very little about. It's fascinating viewing and I can't think of anything (certainly not British) which comes close in terms of documentaries.

Can't agree more Hypo, when it comes to documentaries or other programmes such as Horizon I don't think the Americans can touch us. The science and nature wings of the BBC are world class no doubt about it.

  4. What an absolutely superb series. I loved the one last year and it started again on Sunday. IMO the best thing on TV and really makes you think about life and the scale of time and space. The best thing I have watched on TV in years. When people question the value of the license fee, they should watch this program. Fantastic.

A great programme, great presenter, fantastic knowledge sharing.....so what the **** do I get for my licence fee?

  5. Absolute and total ******s.

I'm a silver powerseller, with Top Rated Seller status with 2600 feedback at 100% and I only sell brand new designer gear, including Stone Island, CP Company, Bestaff, Moncler, Prada, Ma Strum, Victorinox etc plus Adidas Original trainers.

All sourced direct and offered at a price that saves the punter around 50% RRP and still makes me a minimum return of 75%. (Trainers the exception when I get them as they go for uber ££ at around 200% - 300% profit)

You just have to know what you're doing and know what your buying and then how to sell it.

I've got a load of Lyle & Scott Polos & Tees ATM, direct from them at 1/8 of the RRP from their own sale site, can't get more genuine than that.

The John Smedley factory sale in Derbyshire bangs their knits out at between £20 - £25 each. Even in their own sale they go for no lower than around £70 and the RRP is around £120.

Only people who don't really know what their are buying get caught out.

For example, not knowing that the genuine inner seam labels should look like or mean on SI/CP or knowing that the internal labels on Prada are sown in in a jaquared style. Simple things that save hassle.

Also, look out to see if the seller offers a no hassle returns policy, if they do, they are more likely than not the real deal.

Ebay user id or a link to some items you have for sale?

  6. A blip in what are always difficult and unpredicable events or a statement of intent from the electorate now the planning for the cuts is starting to hit the public....

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12645090

"The party finished behind UKIP, the BNP and an independent as its share of the vote dropped to just over 4% (from 17%)."

"It was a very safe Labour seat. Labour got a huge majority on an abysmally-low turnout and everybody else was left to pick up the pieces"

"In truth it was a no contest for any non-Labour candidate,"

The fall in the Lib Dems' vote share is the largest in a by-election since 1989

  7. Who says he has a drug problem? Does just taking drugs equal a drug problem? Lets put it this way:

    Who has the biggest problem:

    1. Man A drinks 2 pints of beer an evening.

    2. Man B drinks 7 pints of beer on Friday and 7 on Saturday, but doesn't drink during the week.

He has spoken about his drug problem before, mate 7g of crack in one go is not clever.

In regards to the rest of his lifestyle, I wouldn't mind ;-) That said I'm with the tpbury, why do porn stars when you could be doing pretty much any women he wanted. The porn stars he's doing are just very expensive whores.

  8. If any of you can't go to watch Saints at Bournemouth on March 12th and Plymouth on March 26th, AFC Totton are at home in their new 'T******d Stadium' on both of these dates. Totton are highly entertaining to watch, we have scored 82 goals in 28 league games, we currently top the Zamaretto Southern League Div One S&W and play some fantastic football. You will honestly be pleasantly surprised just how good the standard is. In all comps this season we have scored three on nine occasions, 4 on four occasions, 5 on seven occasions and 7 once. We are a very friendly club so pop along!

Can't do it, I'm from across the water so Sholing it is :-) Well, I've been once!

Drove by the new ground the other day, looks very very nice, might just need to go an see a game.

  9. Is there not a little program like utorrent that can deal with the downloads?

SABnzbd doesn't float my boat. I tried it last night. It feels sluggish as it doesn't realtime update how much you've downloaded without refreshing. It also runs through your web browser so its hard to keep an eye on it - I'd rather have a little program that deals with it.

I'll perhaps give the one Baj recommended a go. Still resent paying for it though! It's ugly as f*ck too.

Grabit works quite nicely and it's free.

  10. Depends on your connection I guess, I can download a 8gb Xbox 360 game in 29 minutes :p

Nothing personal Baj, but BASTARD! I live less then 1k from my local exchange and get less than 3mb, bloody awful. Even the BT engineer that visited was surprised.

  11. IThe regulators have recently allowed extended advertisement breaks and product placement in programmes is set to increase and the quality of ITV programmes is improving - ITN news is far superior to the leftwing biased BBC news, Downton Abbey has been a major sucess pulling in the crowds and then you've got crap like X factor that people like you seem to enjoy.

Thanks for the advice Verbal, but you're talking cr4p.

ha ha ha ha, next you'll be telling me their football coverage is better as well. lol

  12. I'm currently investing in a deposit fund which mirrors the BOE base rate and at 0.5% it's not a good investment at the minute (although rates should go back up in due course) and have the following options:

Blackrock Aquila (50:50) global equity index fund

Blackrock Aquila consensus fund (80:20 equity:cash/bonds)

Blackrock Aquila all stocks corporate bond index fund

    Prudential socially responsible fund

Prudential HSBC Amanah (sharia compliant) fund

A lifestyling fund (global equity index fund switching to deposit fund 5 years prior to retirement)

Prudential deposit fund (mirroring boe base rate)

    Any thoughts on these options?

I'm currently leaning towards the Blackrock Aquila all stocks corporate bond index fund as I consider this to be reasonably safe and have delivered good results during this recession.

Not an expert on this sort of thing, but corporate bonds, bit dull for you Dune. Bonds are safe but on leaving recession they'll not give anywhere near the returns of the markets (stock or others). Are you saying you don't believe we're clear of recession and the potential of a double dip?

Go in bollcks and all in BRIC countries.

  13. I wouldn't say the BBC was left leaning, but it is liberal Duckhunter.

And TBF, a liberal organisation such as the BBC is required to even out the right wing propaganda distributed by the Mail and Murdoch's empire.

  14. The lack of a second striker to Lambert has been evident all season - yet neither Pardew or Adkins did anything about it. I went last night - and boy am I tired today - and the finishing was as unprofessional as Walsall's defending was heroic and brave. Barnard was a disgrace and the Walsall commentary had it spot on. The less said about N'Guessan the better and even Lallana and Chaplow were off colour. Plenty of effort and running around and Walker made some smart stops for them but with a little bit of composure we could have won 3-1 last night. I think the pressure and the expectation has got to the players and manager and it might be worth bringing someone in - an experienced older head or even a sports psychologist - that can somehow ease the fear and desperation we witnessed last night.

Must admit suprised we didn't try a bit harder with Craig Mackail-Smith. Barny is great, holds the ball up well, brings other players into play, runs for England but crucially his finishing is not clinical enough.
