A good few Portsmyths have resurfaced over on POL tonight

I do like how their lot come out with "why do they care about us? Obsessed" all the time. Yet for 7-8 years you couldn't shut them up. Can't they get their head around them being our rivals? What sort of rivalry would it be if you didn't enjoy being superior? They only say it because they have nothing and think it'll shut us up. Meanwhile, I'll continue to wind them up and enjoy our superiority, no matter how far they sink.

Oh and I've heard the "I'd rather be in L2 with our history than be in the PL with theirs" so many times - how satisfying can reading a record book of achievements be when you weren't alive to enjoy it? Bizarre.

Personally I'd rather have something to look forward to that I might experience than enjoy the fact my great grandad saw us achieve something once.

They have no 'history'. That was all erased when the new club was formed.

They've got two draws and four losses from the last 6 games, 2 points of a possible 18. They are 5 points from the drop zone and every club beneath them, including the bottom two have better form than that. Is another relegation too greedy and too much to hope for?

I could just about get a United fan saying they'd rather have their history than city's present position , but 20 odd championships 3 European cups is slightly different than 2 titles whilst the country was getting over the war. I was 39 before they finished above us, have only seen them do so about half a dozen times , and have seen us beat them moire times than they've beaten us.

A skate in his 50's has had years of misery , except for a period that bankrupt them, and is now watching Div 4 dross. Yet they still make ridiculous claims. Are Preston fans the same, or Bury? I can't believe they are.

They are very proud of their history - yet they fail to learn from even earlier history.

Take Icarus. He was given wings but told not to fly too high or too low. Too high towards the sun and the wax holding his wings together might melt, causing them to fall apart. Too low and he risked falling into the sea and not being able to get out of it.

He did fly too high (the Gaydamak years) and it did fall apart (administration), he then got caught up in the sea unable to get out of it (Championship, administration, League One, League Two). Maintaining something in-between would have been okay (the Mandaric years).

Icarus' greatest supporter, his father, lived in hope that he'd be able to get him back from the underworld, but alas it was not to be (you can figure that bit out for yourself).

Best we can hope for this season is Eastleigh getting promoted. I assume if that happens the police will make them play it at SMS?

The chasm is getting rather embarrassingly large now. But at least they did win the conference-league level first division, played in slow motion with baggy shorts and footballs that weighed more than bowling balls, Match of the Month was on Pathé News, and when their grandparents were in nappies and Laurel and Hardy were in their prime.

I want Portsmouth to stay up so they can play Eastleigh next season. I watch Eastleigh if SFC have no game. LOL.

I get the feeling that their recruitment is a bit random and that they don't get the best out of their players. There are plenty of players in their squad who've won promotion from Div 2 or performed well in Div 1 who, as soon as they pull on a Pompey shirt, turn out to be not very good. If they do manage to get relegated this season it will be a hell of an achievement given the squad they've got and the wages they must be paying.

I was having a weekend off, as I'm going to Ipswich v Saints and Cambridge v Newport in the next 6 days, then Inter v Torino the week after.

Plus I didn't fancy having to travel up surrounded by Skates, and I knew County would win (they've now won 4 lost 1 in the 5 matches against Portsmouth since Newport got back in the League).

I know FIFA on PS4 isn't much to go on, but Bean was their best player on that when I was struggling to beat them with Saints (I'm not very good at FIFA, what with having a job and life and not living in my bedroom oozing sebum).

I was reliably informed by some people who went to Rodney Parade that Tubbs was gash. Though I do think they might actually go up next season (but not as much as they think they will). That's mainly because I think they've got a top-end League 1 / bottom end Championship set up and said they'd be back in L1 within 3 years, which means next season.

Frankly I'm MUCH more interested in Saints' Champions League bid and Newport County's attempt to keep up with Saints' league position as they both rose to third, which is automatic promotion in L2.
