I like the Irony that our Antonym, Northampton, may well be the team that consigns them another season in the Real Fans league,and with the Northampton RFU team also called The Saints there really would be some karma if it happens.

There's still a part of me that actually hopes they get promoted as that will be the trigger for them to start spending beyond their means.

They've struggled in Division 4 even with the advantage they have over other clubs in terms of match day income.

Just imagine how much more they'll struggle in Division 3 with the same resources. The temptation to overspend in order to be 'competitive' will be irresistible and is likely to lead to another crash.

Whether that is more entertaining than watching them bumble along in Division 4 for another season (or more) is a close run thing.

One thing is certain, there's still plenty of amusement coming our way whether they get promoted or not.

Miss out on the playoffs. Already had the skate at work claiming they take more to Wembley than any other team, and that it'll be their sixth time there so it's like their second home blah blah blah. Hope they **** it up big time!

That alleged spat just highlights how their business model is terminally flawed.

They need outside investment, but they want to hang onto their 48% majority share.

The Trust have three members on the seven man board and a minority shareholding so giving away more of the club will make no difference, they'll still all pretend that fans have 'shares'.

The few need to decide what they want - to continue pretending they own something and get to enjoy more nights like last night, or to take some investment and get to compete with bigger clubs like Fleetwood, Chesterfield and Bury.

Personally I think they will decide to continue pretending stuff - like we own our club, and League Two is real football, not like the nasty Championship etc.

That alleged spat just highlights how their business model is terminally flawed.

They need outside investment, but they want to hang onto their 48% majority share.

They have the worst of both worlds now - not fan owned but with the trust acting as block to further investment because they don't want their shareholding diluted. If they aren't careful they're going to be locked into some intractable Mexican standoff.

Seeing them get a playoff and then losing it would be good however I'm an evil vindictive sodpot who wants them to suffer for another season in League Two so I don't want them to have a chance of promotion at all.

I don't think a minority shareholder could prevent a rights issue that was approved by the majority of shareholders, provided that they were invited to participate on the same terms. So I think that, in reality, it's sod all to do with the Trust.

Miss out for me. I would like them to end the season in disgrace, dropping into 8th on the final day on goal difference having shown a complete lack of fight and losing 1-0. I want Champagne Iain escorted from the premises after wrestling with Cook over the last bottle of booze, a red card, fans booing at half time and tears of hope running down a rosy cheeked face (eventually forming a river of despair). The smell of desperation in the air amongst the few will be foul, as reality sinks in of their total failure.

A playoff defeat would be hilarious, but I'd prefer them to finish the season on a crushingly low point.

Oh that would be good. Thing is though I just really really don't want them to even get a sniff of a playoff chance. I realise that the likely scenario is they will do enough for the playoffs however it's still not set in stone and time is running out for them.

Have to congratulate them on keeping us entertained, and this thread going for far longer than most of us thought possible. I wonder if they would want to add this to their huge great big long list of achievements.

I think they will make the play offs and then lose in the semis. They can then write to the "shareholders" to "buy" more shares ready for a promotion push next season.

Wycombe home - still going for the playoffs, but have drawn 4 of the last 5

Wimbledon away - another direct rival

Hartlepool away - midtable, nothing to play for

Northampton home - already champions, still going for 100 points.

To do that they'd have to finish at least 5th though, where they currently are they're home in the first leg.

Joking aside, the only way a 'fan owned team' can grow is for there to be a cash injection from such 'owners' each season rather than just an initial donation.

Of course it was. They have history of raising their game when they face the biggest clubs in World football.

Congratulations to Pompey as their manager said it was a massive achievement them making the play-offs. He also said that they have to live with the cards they have been dealt this season. Did he not build the squad then?
