"The club is delighted to announce that Harry Redknapp is Blues new manager.

"The vastly experienced Redknapp has agreed to replace Gianfranco Zola, who resigned on Monday.

"Redknapp has enjoyed notable success as a manager at AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur and QPR.

"Amongst his many achievements, he successfully guided Portsmouth and QPR to promotions to the Premier League and also secured an FA Cup victory with Portsmouth.

"He won a Premier League Manager of the Year award with Tottenham Hotspur and also qualified them for the Champions League.

"We believe that under the leadership of Redknapp, Blues will enhance their strength and create achievement."

Dont you just love how we are airbrushed out of his CV

he's doing it for free but heard the dogs wages are £90k a week

I assumed Kevin Bond had been on the dole since being sacked by Villa last year, but he's managing in Hong Kong.

I trust he'll rush to the Harry's aid as he has to drive him to training and knows where the cones are hidden.

Back to work down there today, they've been unbearable. Just fuelled the fire thinking they're huge.

"We'll win the league next year with Eisners billions" being one quote from today.

Same bloke also thinks we'll get relegated as the Chinese don't want to buy us. Would make an interesting following season.

I thought the attempts of Newport at Plymouth to ensure the Skates don't get 2nd place on Monday were admirable. :o

So, they've taken a year longer than what I assumed was the worst case scenario, and look like they're not even going to make the top 2 - far better than them getting a day out at Wembley.

Also, have you seen the sides who'll be in L1 next season? Rotherham aren't the biggest, but two from Wigan, Blackburn, Forest and Birmingham going down, to be joined in L1 by at least one of Bolton, Bradford or Millwall and maybe all of them, and will also play MK Dons, and Charlton - they'll be in "not good enough for the Championship but a big club honest" heaven.

Birmingham, home of the motor industry. A good fit for Britains premier managerial wheeler dealer. Hopefully he'll take the Blues down to meet the Skates next season. A relegation 6 pointer next season would be worthy of a substantial popcorn order.

They hate him now just as much as we do.

My favourite piece of selective history recounting in that article:

"The most historic announcement of all came on September 29, 2014, when Portsmouth were officially able to declare themselves debt-free after paying back all creditors and ex-players."

Let's gloss over the fact that "...paying back..." should actually read "...not paying back 96% of what was owed to..." :mcinness:

He couldnt believe his luck when the phone call came in. Stay up this season , which is not that difficult and then have the summer to spend and sell with all his agent contacts, lovely jubbly

Not really, they only have 48% of the shares...
which is more than enough to block any sale, which requires 75% of the shareholders to vote for it. Either Eisener accepts the cuffs or the sell now or go bust story needs to get ramped up. Edited by Chez

I'd like to airbrush the twunt out of our history...he was the worst thing about our demise and his presence left a sh*tty smear on our history.

If they added that he left Wham and QPR about to be relegated his relegations would probably outnumber promotions....nobody (here anyway) counts the stolen cup as an achievement.

I hope the Brummoys crash and burn and chase the slimy crook out of their city! Odious cretin ptah!!

There is a chap I know who claims to be a Pompey supporter since 1960 and, although he only goes to games occasionally (he seems to go to the Emirates fairly often in recent times) he likes to make continual reference to how many trophies Pompey have won.

He cant be blamed for that of course.

However I did some research and pointed out that any Pompey fan with his years of following the club behind him (ie 1960 to current date) would have had to suffer the following:

.............................................SAINTS ..................................POMPEY

SEASONS IN TOP TIER................40............................................8

SEASONS IN SECOND TIER.........15...........................................36

SEASONS IN THIRD TIER.............2.............................................7

SEASONS IN FOURTH TIER.........NIL............................................6

SEASONS IN HIGHER POSITION..50.............................................7

AVEARGE ATTENDANCE........20,466....................................14,248

The trophy thing is utterly fatuous for any Skate under about 80 to mention.

Literally, the only time they've been anything other than crap in the last 60 years was when they were spunking laundered money on unaffordable players. And that coincided with the one major trophy they have won in the post-war era.

It's no wonder they are so bitter and weird though - 8 years in the top flight in the last 57 years compared to our 40  50 to 7 in terms of higher league finishes

Kind of explains why they get so excited about an inconsequential 2-2 draw.

Oh dear.

Trouble at t'mill.

Leaflets being handed out at yesterday's triumph over Cambridge United prove they are in a right flummox over whether they can have their slice of lemon drizzle cake, and still eat it.

How do you confuse a Pompey fan? Not by putting him in a barrel and asking him to pee in the corner but by asking whether he wants to be part of the bestest, biggest fan-owned club in the world which is at the heart of the community, or whether they want a rich bloke to fund them.

Michael Eisner has thrown a real spanner in the works. His conditions for taking over are that he insists there will be no fan representation on the board, that he will only spend the absolute minimum on the TTT to bring it in line with safety regulations (which hints there are safety issues) and that he will look for land within a 15-mile radius of the Island of Dr Moreau for a new ground, which raises the spectre of taking the club off the island!!

This promises to split the fan base between those who want the club to remain 'fan-owned' and therefore likely to kick around in football's basement for the foreseeable future ("But we love it down here, this is proper football, not like the plastic Premier League) and those who want a return to the good old days of a thick, rich person spunking his wealth on them ("Is Riquelme still available? We'll be able to bid for Messi")

Of course, in their deluded ideal world, the fans would still retain 'ownership' (how much will Eisner pay for that 'share' you so lovingly bought a few years ago?) so they could continue their proud boast, while at the same time being passed blank cheques by some rich guy just grateful to be given the chance to be associated with the bestest and most famousest club with a fan with a bell and everything!

As the leaflets say: "We are not opposed to Mr Eisner. We are opposed to the loss of a community-based club which his business model would represent."

Other choice comments include: "It's not about whether Eisner is a good chap. It's about the fact there is only one Portsmouth FC and once it is sold to anyone, they can sell it on to whoever they wish" (well. they would know all about that).

"We need ownership for the long term, which we know have with fans ownership"

"We believe in a sustainable fans-owned club playing at the highest level" (that will be League One, then).

"FC United of Manchester raised over £6m to build a new ground and AFC Wimbledon have advanced plans for a new ground, in both cases without diluting fans' ownership. Pompey is a much bigger club than either of them. We can develop our ground in stages, enhancing income and the level the club can be sustained at."

They basically want everything to stay as it is, but have Mr Disney give them unlimited funds to spend every season. There must be something in the water down in that hole, so utterly ****ing deluded.

They'll be absolutely nuts to turn down his offer, but it will be hilarious if they do.

There's been two Portsmouth Football Clubs in recent history. The one before 2012 and the new one after 2012. Tut tut, what short memories they have.

depends on the size of the holding of the two in question. Three of the Presidents only own about 1.2% each, another three about 2.5% each - nowhere near enough to block a buyout should the rest, including the PST, accept Mr Disney's offer. Mind you if Moth, Kirk, McInnes and Partridge don't fancy it, then that changes things.

So I'm reading this as I predicted - he's only going to buy if he's in control completely. He's not interested in fan representation on the board (I can't think of many that do tbh but feel free to correct me) and he definitely wants out of the kipper shed.

I know it's not as far but the fact that he's imposed a 15 mile limit, inside of which he can do what he want without referring to this 'heritage board' (whatever that means) just means that he definitely wants to move the stadium from where it is. For hilarity I started considering a Wimbledon type move to Milton Keynes for the fishy few being forced to travel to Segensworth or Gosport. Or out to Havant possibly.

As things stand I'm pretty sure he can just buy the club and do what he wants with very little reference to the bestest at all (just you wait for the comparisons with The Glazers and Man U). Once he's bought it, the few will have to shut up once more. That'll be funny.

Anyone see the business case in a new ground. Brighton's cost around £93m so he's going to have to spend close to that for a capacity in the high 20ks. If he's going to build for even 35k the price goes up exponentially. There can't be much value in a landlocked Fatpipes.

He's a businessman not a supporter and the sums just don't seem to add up.

Stop being so grounded in reality. ;) As the Skates have found, that gets you nowhere!!

Clearly the blue few are about to rise to the top again!!

Has he actually made an offer? Lot of waffle and a bit of PR, few stipulations etc but surely the more you know the less attractive it becomes?

Introduce him to the potential heritage board...and let him be downwind of TCWTB and he'll be off like a road runner :-)
